PDFScanner might change that. It simplifies scanning, editing, and sharing documents—using any scanner compatible with the Image Capture and Preview apps in macOS—and offers fast, accurate optical character recognition (OCR).
Using PDFScanner is simple: Just load a document in your scanner and click Scan in the app. Don’t worry about perfect positioning; the app automatically straightens crooked scans. You can also reorder, rotate, crop, and delete pages.
PDFScanner supports OCR for 11 languages—including French, German, and Spanish—and turns your scans into searchable, copyable text with impressive accuracy. You can use OCR on existing PDF documents too (just open them and choose Edit > Recognize Text).
Don’t have a duplex scanner? Use Fake Duplex mode to scan all the pages in a document, flip them over, then scan them again—PDFScanner will arrange them for you.
When you’re done, PDFScanner can compress your PDFs to as little as a tenth of the file size of the original scan.
