Cut the Rope Remastered

The Story Unfolds

After the 10 years he’s spent eating candy, you’d think Om Nom would be satisfied.

But the adorable star of the physics-based puzzler Cut the Rope is always hungry for more—and his cravings have led him to a new dimension in the Apple Arcade game Cut the Rope Remastered.

In this decadent mix of beloved old-school levels and clever new ones, slice ropes, pop bubbles, and tinker with objects as you feed sweets to an insatiable monster patiently awaiting his snack. And it’s all been updated with fresh 3D graphics.

“It has the best elements of five different Cut the Rope games,” says Semyon Voinov, cocreator of the original game and cofounder of ZeptoLab, which worked with game developer Paladin Studios on Remastered.

Yee-haw! Feeding Om Nom is always a tricky task.

You can think of Remastered as a greatest-hits record of sorts—one that pulls the best parts from Cut the Rope games over the years. One moment you’re popping candy-filled bubbles to feed Om Nom like in the early days; the next you’re maneuvering suction cups or swinging uncuttable (or are they?) chains.

Paladin Studios also led the charge to fix a challenge from the original.

“At some point in some of the original Cut the Rope games, we were quite punishing. Levels with lots of spike aren’t always as fun as levels that are more mentally taxing,” says Voinov. “The remastered version focuses on older levels that are challenging for your mind rather than your fingers.”

Cut the Rope Remastered also unveils a new monster: the diminutive Nibble Nom, who was introduced in the animated series Om Nom Stories.

“I’m really proud of what we achieved 10 years ago with the original Cut the Rope,” says Voinov, “but the new game is just more polished. It’s better animated. It’s smoother. All that makes the game richer.”

You can find Cut the Rope Remastered and over 180 other amazing Apple Arcade games on the Arcade tab of the App Store.
