A weather app that’s just spectacular enough.

(Not Boring) Weather

Simple Design & Live Widgets

Created using gaming industry tech like 3D modeling and lighting effects, this app makes local weather reports delightfully interactive.

Best for: Getting your forecasts with fun flourishes.

Tap around and see what you discover. Hidden clues throughout the app unlock new skins and functionality.

What we love: High-fidelity sound effects, charming animations, and just-noticeable haptic feedback you’ll feel as you tap through the week’s forecast. The app doesn’t skimp on details though: Tap to get wind speed, dew point, and other meteorological stats.

Pro tip: Turning up the volume! Sound designer Thomas Williams created original audio for every weather event, like rain, snow, thunder, and hail.

Meet the creator: Developer Andrew Allen of Andy Works also cocreated the Apple Design Award–winning drawing app Paper. All apps in the (Not Boring) series—which includes a timer and calculator—were built using gaming technology, says Allen. “It’s an entirely new process that came with a lot of trial and error and frustrating nights, but some of our best ideas come from happy accidents.”
