Rules were made to be broken—or at least rewritten—in the acclaimed indie puzzler Baba Is You. Shove blocks of text around a pixely 2D world to form phrases that change how everything works—allowing rocks to float, walls to move, and a sea of lava to become harmless flowers. Baba is you, and you’re in charge.
What we love: Its outside-the-box solutions. Can’t reach the victory flag because a deadly skull is blocking your path? Slide words around to change “skull is defeat” into “skull is push,” then shove that bony noggin out of the way. Land on the right combination of words and you’ll feel like a genius!
Quick tip: You can construct phrases vertically as well as horizontally. And watch for ways to create “Baba is you” and “Baba is win” at the same time, which immediately beats the level!
Meet the creator: Baba Is You is the brainchild of Finnish indie developer Arvi “Hempuli” Teikari, who originally crafted the game for the 2017 Nordic Game Jam.
