Zookeeper World’s Zany Animals

This isn’t your average zoo.

Zookeeper World

Match-3 Puzzle & Zoo Building

Lions, tigers, crying infants—most zoos are loaded with ’em. But crocodiles in sailor outfits and punk-rock chimpanzees? You’ll only find those kinds of critters in Zookeeper World on Apple Arcade.

In this match-3 builder, create the zoo of your dreams by solving puzzles to outfit your park with fauna, habitats, and a menagerie of oddball animals dreamed up by developer Kiteretsu. Here are four favorites, courtesy of CEO and executive producer Masanori Kusakabe.

In Zookeeper World, you can dress up your animals in fun outfits.
The coolest monkey around.

Punk Monkey

One of the first animals you unlock in Zookeeper World, the monkey starts off like any other adorable primate—but once you start upgrading, its more aggressive side as a punk-rock thrasher comes out. “Monkeys get angry very easily, so we started from that point of view,” says Kusakabe.

Upgraded animals, like this lion who boils delicious soup, perform for visitors.

Chef Lion

This king of the jungle transforms into a clown, a monster, and (Kusakabe’s favorite) a gourmet cook. “Chef Lion is very much a foodie!” he says.

Touchdown Giraffe’s going for an impossible 70-yard field goal!

Touchdown Giraffe

Giraffes might not seem like the best match for the gridiron, but the team at Kiteretsu looked beyond neck length. “The giraffe is a very calm animal, but they have strong kicking power,” says Kusakabe.

Mecha Boss levels twist the match-3 puzzles in new ways.

Mecha Boss

Unlike your other zoo residents, this giant robot shows up uninvited; beat his puzzles for awesome gem rewards. The boss’s origins date back to the very early days of Zookeeper as a web game in the early 2000s. “Mecha Boss was the very first character I created, even before the animals!” says Kusakabe.
