Signing documents by hand can involve mail, meetings, and in extreme cases an antiquated curiosity known as the fax machine.

DocuSign has a better way, using electronic signatures as a substitute for flipping through endless reams of paper—which means it’s both faster and greener.

Instead of printing out pages (and pages) of documents to scribble a single signature at the end, you can now scroll your way through NDAs, contracts, permission slips, and more. Then sign electronically and move on with your day.

Import documents from a variety of sources.

When you first open the app, you’ll see two numbers on your Dashboard reflecting the following requests: Needs My Signature and Waiting for Others.

To apply your John Hancock to a document someone has sent, tap Sign & Send on the home page. You can even pick the color of your virtual pen.

Got a waiver for someone else to sign? Scan it, upload a photo, or import from another app. Once the document is in DocuSign, tap Add A Signer. From there, input name, contact info, and role, and the app will send it right along.

Signing documents is free; sending documents to others requires a subscription plan. It costs a little, but you’re saving trees with every page.
