Idle Cook: CookingGames

Cooking with cooking fever

Hungering to build a restaurant empire but can’t stand getting grease stains on your shirt? Launch Idle Cook.

Beginning with a small diner, a french fry recipe, and a dream, venture to gradually take over the culinary world. Naturally, this involves cooking food and delivering it to paying customers, all accomplished by incessantly tapping the screen. (It’s an idle game, after all.)

Idle Cook gives new meaning to the term “fast food.”

As your bank account grows, you can purchase improvements and expand. Hire a chef to do the cooking for you; bring on a few middle managers to keep your employees motivated. Delegating responsibilities frees you up to think big-picture—and save enough dough to open locations in New York City and beyond.

Idle Cook’s hiring system adds depth. Different employees offer unique benefits, like increased cooking speed or cheaper upgrades. Putting them in the right positions is key to quickly expanding your nascent business.

You’ll also have fun researching recipes. Whenever you want to whip up a different kind of meal, first unlock a recipe, then the necessary ingredients to make it. There’s an interesting puzzle element at play here; Idle Cook doesn’t tell you what ingredients to use or dictate the order in which to add them.

It might not be fancy, but Ham Pizza sounds like a hit!

You won’t have trouble figuring out how to make a Tomato Salad (tomatoes, lettuce), but menu items that require more complicated ingredient combos, like Strawberry Cake (eggs, flour, strawberries), are trickier.

You might taste best with your eyes closed, but you’ll need them wide-open to succeed in Idle Cook.
