Description

Ocular torsion affects thousands of people across the country. iTorsion offers a simpler way for doctors and patients alike to diagnose the problem.

iTorsion seeks to make the diagnosis of ocular torsion a simpler and easier process for both doctors and their patients. While traditional diagnostic methods require using special equipment (e.g., Double Maddox Rod) that often lacks precision, iTorsion only requires a smartphone and red/green glasses leading to much greater precision.

This application is intended for use by doctors, and not for self-diagnosis by patients. Usage of the application will require standard red-green glasses to filter out colors from each eye. The specific color values can be tailored in the app to fit the specific requirements for the display and the glasses. The smartphone should be held on a level surface as the patient interacts with it. The patient should see predominantly one of the lines out of each eye, and will be asked to make the lines parallel with each other, as well as to the ground. After finishing the test, a screen will indicate the degree of extorsion and intorsion for each of the patient’s eyes.
