How often do you scroll through your social media feed and ask yourself, “How does my ex-classmate, with no graphic design experience, create these professional-looking posters?”. Well, there’s likely to be a very logical answer to that question. Over probably has something to do with it.

Start discovering Over through its Learn tab. Select a task or a project that interests you; examples include putting together a dreamy inspirational quote against a striking visual backdrop or creating the illusion of depth with multi-layered images.

Each section is focused on teaching you how to achieve a specific visual effect and some tasks come with increasing mastery levels, from beginner to pro. As you practise the techniques using images provided by the app, new ideas for editing your own photos will start popping up in your head pretty quickly.

Next, move on to the Templates tab. Spend some time studying how a beautiful postcard is constructed with multiple layered images and how they are organised and edited. Templates are conveniently tagged into myriad categories so you are guaranteed to find multiple options for your graphic design needs: pregnancy announcement? Party invite? Sale banner for your online shop? Pick an existing template and play with the elements: change the text, update the background, find a better fitting font. Easy, right?

Finally, you’re ready to let your imagination run wild. Click the central plus button and off you go! Don’t be intimidated by a blank canvas (multiple canvas ratios are available for all your favourite social media): you’re now in the realm of unlimited possibilities! Hundreds of backdrops, fonts, icons, graphical elements – all of them can be customised using the app’s editing tools, making your wildest intentions a reality.

Using Over is like being in on a secret: the secret to creating good-looking graphics without having to use professional software. Now go on, create your masterpiece and have your followers wonder how you did it.
