Description

FinishTime is a clock for use by marshals working flying finish at a stop control in a stage/performance rally. At the press of a button, it records the time of day in seconds or tenths of a second. These times are saved for later reference. The time of day can be synced with rally time.

The running time of day (in seconds) is also displayed so that it may be used at an Arrival Time Control or Stage Start.

In order to facilitate viewing of the display under a variety of lighting conditions, the brightness can be adjusted and the information switched between being displayed in black or white.

Note: FinishTime will consume a lot of battery power while being used as a flying finish clock on an active stage or displaying the start time to competitors. In either activity, the iPhone's screen needs to be illuminated so that the current or recorded time may be seen and acted up/logged/reported to the finish control and the screen can uses a lot of power. Starting with version 1.3, covering the proximity sensor will turn off the screen and save power. Shutting off other parts of the iPhone (like Bluetooth or WiFi) may help extend battery life as well. Of course, this can be avoided by running the iPhone on external power.

What’s New

Version 1.3

This version introduces the following changes:

- In order to save power, on iOS devices with a proximity sensor, the display can be turned off by blocking the sensor while using the app. Place a finger over the proximity sensor and the screen will turn off. Move that finger and the screen will turn back on. If this is done between cars, the battery should last long enough to record the stage times for all cars in a moderately large field.

Note that not all iOS devices have a proximity sensor, so confirm that your device has it before trying to make use of it.

- A new "Round" button has been added to the Settings screen. This button will round the app's notion of what time it is (either up or down) to nearest second (tenths of a second adjustment). This should make it easier to sync the app's time to the rally time displayed on an official clock.

- In previous versions of the app, there were cases when the saved times would be lost. This version corrects that problem.
