Nova Scotia’s guide to occupational health and safety (OHS) legislation is presented by Construction Safety Nova Scotia (CSNS) to help you understand your requirements under applicable provincial legislation. This guide presents key topics to assist Nova Scotia’s construction employers and employees in understanding and complying with the legislative obligations within their workplaces. Each topic includes an easy-to-read summary, links to the relevant sections of the legislation, and related resources. For specific requirements, the user should refer back to the legislation.

The CSNS Guide to OHS Legislation has been updated to include the addition of ten (10) new topics: Asbestos in the Workplace, Boilers and Pressure Vessels, Cranes, Electrical Safety – General, Fire Extinguishers, Mental Health, Record Keeping, Return to Work, Temporary Workplaces on Highways, and Tools, Grinders, and Wheels. In addition, resources across all topics have been updated.
