Twelvesmith

Can you craft a Twelve?

VIEW

It might be just out of reach of simple, finger-based counting, but in the grand scheme of things 12 isn’t a very big number. That doesn’t mean getting to 12 in this fiendishly tricky number-based puzzle game will be easy though.

In Twelvesmith creating a 12 is your ultimate goal. And while getting to grips with the game is as easy as learning your one, two, threes, entering double digits can feel like trying to master trigonometry.

Within the game’s hexagonal play board you’ve got to drag side-by-side numbers to match pairs. Doing this sees the digits merge and form a single larger number. So, swipe to pair up two conjoining fives and you’ll end up with a single six.

Start swiping and you’ll quickly get the hang of Twelvesmith. But can you make a 12?

Although that sounds simple enough, with just 19 cells across which to manoeuvre, and blockers constantly popping up to hamper your flow and wipe numbers off the board, progress isn’t always straightforward.

To get near your goal you’ll need to start planning multiple moves ahead and always have a plan B in mind. Twelvesmith is as much about strategy and cunning as number manipulation.

You’ll fail on your way to your ultimate goal (most likely many times), and don’t be surprised if eventually forming a 12 takes you more than 1,000 moves. When you eventually make it, however, you’ll feel like a master of numbers. Those up to 12 anyway.
