沙田是香港人口最多的地區，居民達 69萬餘人。過去作為漁民和農民聚居的小鄉村，雖然在70年代逐漸發展成新市鎮，現在仍保留了許多傳統鄉村特色。沙田是一個多元化的社區，它擁有繁忙的商業區和美麗的自然景觀，同時保留了歷史和文化遺產，例如歷史悠久的圍村。
為了促進社區交流，保良局朱正賢小學開發《沙田遊蹤》的手機應用程式，通過學生親身考察及街頭訪問，提供創新的社區導覽模式，結合虛擬實境技術讓居民和遊客一同探索沙田魅力。
