Description

Dark mode for every website. Take care of your eyes, use Dark Reader for night and daily web surfing.

This eye-care extension enables night mode creating dark themes for websites on the fly. Dark Reader inverts bright colors making them high contrast and easy to read at night. It perfectly suits to system dark mode.

Configure brightness and contrast to fit your display, choose between Dynamic and Filter mode, toggle individual websites, auto-toggle by system dark mode preferences.

Before you install disable similar extensions. Activate Dark Reader in Safari preferences. Enjoy watching!

Great app but not flawless

So I really want to love this app, and think it works great for most websites but definitely not all - specifically some of the local websites I use. For some shopping websites, the imagines are just blacked out along with the background, so you have to disable it - which is a real shame. I gave it four stars because it does work most of the time, but just some of the times is annoying enough to lose a star. If the developer wants to fix it, I’d be more than happy to help to make the app as good as possible!

Lacks configurability

This works as advertised, but there is some room for improvement. It occasionally still misses some bright colours on the screen, and also at times creates situations where there is less contract between test and background rather than more.

It help a lot if it were possible to cconfigure the extension to be off by default, and only on for some sites frequently used late at night. It might also benefit greatly from some kind of threshold setting for indiividual websites, to allow us to tune what we consider "bright" colours which should be filtered.

On the whole, it is promising, and does do what it says, but it just introduces to many annoyances along with it.

It's also quite disappointing that the Safari extension is paid for, while the Chrome extension is free. In its current state, I don't feel like I've really gotten my money's worth. It some improvements can be made to make it more flexible and configurable, that might change.

Developer Response ,

Some Dynamic and Filter mode improvements were made, for other requests the work is in progress. Most of the Chrome version features are going to be ported into Safari app version.
