Kena Health: Online Doctor 12+

I’ve used the Kena app twice. Once for a medical consult and once for a therapy session and I have been so impressed both times. It’s exactly what I needed and what I think South Africa needs- great medical and mental health care at a reasonable price and no long waits.

Now I don’t have to think twice about asking if my child has measles or mumps rather than just seeing it through to avoid huge doctors bills.

And I will be continuing to see the Kena therapist who I found to be really good. She not only helped me to understand my current state but gave me a great exercise to work through and a road map to moving past it.

Well done Kena for this exceptional offering which could impact South Africa more than AI in the short to medium term.

The concept is excellent. We got access to a doctor on the weekend and the sign up on the app was easy. The cost is also very good relative to what you would pay to access an in-person consult with a doctor. Unfortunately the video call did not work which made the consult a bit more difficult because it was purely by phone and the doctor couldn’t see the patient. It also made it harder to ask questions which actually led to a discrepancy in what was said and the prescription. I’ll use it again now that I understand the process better but there’s room for improvement.

Always the same stock standard responses with these kind of apps mental health “support”.

It’s easy to fish out advice when you grasp the entire picture of the issue at hand. Why allot some inexperienced to a person then charge them for that and then state only after the fact of the first initial (disappointing) consultation that you will refer me to a professional. That’s theft. Also your app states that you will be providing charges at the end of the session which you associate with if the person only received help from the session they will be charged. Yet the counsellor did not ask me for my input and stated it as a fact that I will be charged, yet her help was insincere and unhelpful. I guess you can have the money, just not my loyalty.
