The app is an absolute disaster
I am bitterly disappointed in the quality and functionality of the app. As much as I would love to support the project, I cannot give it more than 1 star - it should not be for sale until until huge improvements are made.
Developer Response ,
Thank you very much for your feed back which is much appreciated. We are extremely concerned that you are disappointed with the app, as we have gone to great lengths to make the app as functional and user friendly as possible.
Just as a bit of back ground. This app has been in development for over four years, which has involved numerous trials and tests, we have finally released what we believed to be a comprehensive and functional app. This is not a cheap app that has just been thrown onto the market.
Trees just by their nature are incredibly complex to identify but working with Meg Coates Palgrave, who is the leading authority on Trees of Southern Africa and her new keys, which are completely different to the old book, we have endeavoured to make the identification as simple as possible. These new keys are area specific, which is why each area has to be developed individually and one cannot just create an app for the whole of Southern Africa as the keys don’t work that way.
We would love to hear more about the functionality problems that you are facing and what great improvements you would suggest to improve the performance of the app as we would certainly address these issue where possible. There is also a tutorial on how to use the app on the app itself which could possibly help with the usability and a video which will be released shortly.
Very expensive for what it is. Disappointing
Frustrating and full of bugs and errors . Needs much more overall improvement and professional work!

Thank you very much for your feedback which is greatly appreciated with a new app on the market. It distresses us to hear that you are disappointed with the app, as we have been developing this app for four years now and have released what we believed to be a fully functional, user friendly and completed app for the areas that have been defined. Apps inherently have bugs as they have to been developed for 1000’s of different phone models. Numerous versions of our app have been tried and tested to eliminate all of the bugs and errors that we have been made aware of. As with all apps, this is a never ending process and updates are an ongoing process to eliminate new bugs that arise.
Thousands and thousands of dollars have gone into the development of this app to bring it to the market as the best tree identification available, hence the price tag It has over 770 trees listed and keys for 6 areas in Zimbabwe and 6 in South Africa, with complete country tree list for each country in Southern Africa. It covers roughly 80% of all the trees that occur in Southern Africa. With the remaining 20% in keys that have not yet been defined. As these keys/areas are developed, which will take a few years they will been uploaded to the app, free of charge to current users when they update their app.
We would love to hear what improvements you would make to the app to make it better. We will shortly be releasing a video tutorial on how to use the app as identifying trees as I am sure you will be aware is a very complex subject. This video may well help users to understand the functionality of the app.
There is great expectation for a simple tree identification book or app, that enables a user to the identify a tree either via a picture or a couple of questions. Unfortunately with trees this is just not possible, hence the lack of another true identification app on the market.
Up to six family members will be able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled.
