Looom (yes, it has three Os) won a 2020 Apple Design Award for pioneering a bold and playful new approach to hand-drawn animation on iPad, accessible enough for anyone to create and enjoy. Starting with a clean canvas, Looom invites you to just start drawing unimpeded by intimidating toolsets or menus. A single touch of the display then captures your first frame. Draw again, capture, and hit play—you’ve created your first looping animation.
Disappointed
I love the concept and idea, but the app is still so buggy. Every time I reopen the app the animations reset. I can’t open and play any of the pre-installed animations. Also lack of tutorial, FAQ or user guide. This app has so much potential, was excited to install it, I’m just disappointed it seems so unpolished.
App has potential but freezes often
I was very excited about Looom after watching tutorials and reading about it. However, it only works somewhat when I add a new file, but NONE of the Tutorials or example files that come with the App wants to work- it crashes and freezes, and refuses to go back to the Home screen, and the only way to get out of the frozen file/screen is to completely delete the App from my device and re-install it. Really annoying and frustrating! The developers should really look into this, as it’s going to frustrate and annoy potential users. I teach at a university and would have loved to recommend this application to my students, but in it’s current buggy state, I will definitely not be able to recommend that my students pay for an app that performs so poorly. It’s a pity, and a real lost opportunity for the developers. Please get your act and app together! I am being generous with 3 stars - it is more for the concept of the app than the actual performance.
