Description

It may be hard to imagine it now, but in the past, fish were abundant in the Ka’tarohkwi river. Destruction of wetlands has drastically reduced their numbers.

Viewing Instructions
To see this piece, download the “Swimming Upstream AR” app from the App Store. Located at Douglas Fluhrer Park at the shore of the south end, just north of Metalcraft Marine. There is a sign with the symbol of the fish seen on local sewer grates, reminding us that wildlife live in these waterways. Open the app on your mobile device and allow your camera to be used. When you aim your mobile device at the sign, you will see animated content, swimming along the sight lines of the water, as well as around the actual sign itself as an immersive tableau, drawing attention to the declining biodiversity of the fish in this ecosystem. If you can’t go to the park, you can aim your camera at the image on our website at https://belleparkproject.com/projects... from wherever you are, and see the content: it won’t be in context of the water and space, but we hope you’ll enjoy it nonetheless!
