Political Leanings

I love the economist. But I do feel that it is leaning more left as time goes on. All the negative news for these past 6 months have all been regarding right wing politics, and I don’t believe the Economist is painting a picture of the other side. For a newspaper priding themselves on impartiality, this is not the way to go.

Still hankering after remain.

Don’t diss patriotism. Your editors are also fiercely patriotic but not to a geographic area but to a group of people. Why is everyone keen to enter UK freely? Because for all its faults it still has the best system of government built up over 1000 years. The European Union has no emotional appeal except to the bureaucrats who run it and the perpetual globalists who benefit most from globalism and want to go where it suits themselves from time to time. Even the German Constitutional court is now bucking up against the ECJ. No one least of all the Europeans has much love for Europe. Trade should be achievable without a unified farce if a nonexistent state. The Economist’s agenda is to more to itself than anyone else.

High Quality Content - Low Quality Performance

While I can’t fault the quality of the content, the performance of the app has taken a nose dive in recent months.

It *consistently* takes more than a minute to download an edition over a 100Mbps WIFI connection and *frequently* fails halfway. This is really frustrating as I usually remember to download an edition as I’m on my way out the door.

Playback performance of downloaded editions is patchy, often taking impossibly long for *downloaded* content to start playing, occasionally requiring multiple attempts at stop and restarting playback and sometimes restarting the app, and eventually abandoning listening altogether.

No other app on my iPhone has this problem with downloads. Every single other app downloads content (2 hour long, high audio quality podcasts episodes, for example) in the blink of an eye.
