Mindfulness and Serenity

I started listening to Sam Harris’s Making Sense podcast about a year ago and found his discussions and points of view really insightful and thought-provoking. Whilst he often doesn’t engage directly with mindfulness and the Waking Up app on his podcast (or at least what I’ve listened to), I was able to get a feel for what it might involve and was encouraged to give it a go. I’m currently on Day 20 of the Waking Up course and can already see how the practice I’m developing can be invaluable in my life going forward. It’s no secret that we live in a time where our attention and focus is pulled in all sorts of different and constantly moving directions and I don’t think many of us are really aware of this, let alone equipped to deal with it. This app provides a user-friendly, engaging platform for trying to combat these (and other) issues and, well, having Sam take me through it all has been a pleasure. He has a wonderful demeanour and is someone who I truly respect as a human being. Loving it.

Mind blowing app!!!

Ok, so I have never been someone who could sit still, ADHD and a busy mind has always been an “advantage” (later in life) to me, Allowing me to focus on more than one task at a time and try different opportunities. But taking the time during lockdown in South Africa I downloaded the Waking up app and got stuck into the teachings of Sam Harris…… just 10min a day in the morning, afternoon or evening has taken the edge off and allowed me to hyperfocus on ensuring I live an examined life. Focus on the important aspects of life, the ones deep down that mean something to my soul.

Waking up has been an absolute pleasure. I am able to “relax” and meditate with in minutes now… (not yet in seconds) but adore the process.

The Waking Up course is exactly what is needed world wide. I would like to see it introduced to high schools with a different version for primary and pre primary schools. I would also like it to be compulsory for all members of Government in South Africa and maybe America too. What a different world it would be if we all meditated every single day. If you are looking for someone to help with this. I would do it. Thank you for this work. I do meditate for longer most days but on the days I can’t this is perfect. You are brilliant. Get it into schools and governments and businesses. We would eliminate hunger and war within a few years. Oh yes and maybe we would even take climate change seriously. Thank you for you and your teams work Sam Harris. Respect. Love. Peace.
