Zwift for training

I have been using Zwift for a few years now and I do all my training solely on an old Elite Crono InOut trainer with a recent addition of a pair of secondhand Garmin Vector2 pedals to increase accuracy of my training. There have been a hiccup or 2 over the years but that is to be expected. I have found with the training programs, you are the 1 that knows how you feel , so you must regulate your training intensity by adjusting it down from 100% or just do a recovery ride. Training programs are there as a support tool, so unless you have a personal trainer that can do heart rate variance, blood pressure, blood sugar and a few other tests on you as well as know your diet and sleeping patterns, no indoor program will be good enough. Best is listen to your body. I have improved with indoor training tremendously and very few people belief me when looking at my performances over the last year as I am 95kg and 52years old but have done a few 100km races at an average of 40km/h with only Zwift indoor training programs, the secret is consistency and know when to rest, your body cannot go at 100% all the time without proper rest. Zwift team you have given me a wonderful training tool, thank you

Best cycling training app

I’m a South African and an avid, pretty competitive rider and enjoy the flexibility Zwift offers me. After work and family time at night or early before the sun rises, I find races or social rides of any power/duration that I need or structured workouts that the coach prescribes. For this my coach creates the workouts in TrainingPeaks and I simply open Zwift and follow the on-screen prompts, perform the intervals (as best I can) and save the ride. The coach gets all my ride metrics immediately after my ride and tweaks his program accordingly. I also incorporate Zwift races into my program and end up doing the same races on set days and often meet the same regulars (riders) from different countries, usually racing in the same categories, often with similar powered riders jostling for the win or place. I have made friends out of game that I now follow on Strava and even in real-life and rode with friends from Canada and USA while they were on holiday in my country. The race results are similar on virtual and real world and really awesome fun. For the nominal cost it’s an awesome tool that WORKS!

I like Zwift.

Sometimes I like Zwift more than riding outdoors.
Zwift is very safe, you have a better chance of being eaten by a dinosaur in zwift, than being driven over by a car. The community is great, join a group, ride for some great banter, or go for that pb on your own. Worth every cent. Do it, do it.. you know you wanna...
