AMAZING KATAMARI DAMACY

Cult PlayStation 2 darling Katamari Damacy dazzled the games world back in 2004 with its bizarre and inventive premise: you’re a tiny prince pushing a sticky ball around the world, picking up objects as you go. And as the ball grows bigger, you grow bigger too – starting with ants and paperclips, you eventually grow to pick up buildings, towns and even planets.

Amazing Katamari Damacy reworks that setup into something more familiar to mobile players – an infinite running game – while retaining the offbeat character and stellar scale-related trickery that made this series so beloved.

Once again you are cast as the Prince, tasked with rebuilding the universe that The King of All Cosmos accidentally destroyed. As with that first game, your journey starts with teeny tiny steps.

The levels change in scale drastically – you’ll eventually reach the size of a planet.

You begin on a household table, snaffling up screws, dice and other little bits and bobs. And you quickly learn you can’t pick up items bigger than yourself – it’ll make The King of All Cosmos angry. Later, you move onto pool balls and chess pieces, then shoes, dogs, bicycles, cars… right up to buildings and aeroplanes. It just keeps escalating, getting weirder by the minute.

It’s this wonderfully strange blend of everyday objects and the surreal antics of the prince and The King of All Cosmos that makes this Katamari universe so charming. And with game mechanics that will feel familiar to millions, Amazing Katamari Damacy is the perfect entry point to this bizarre world.
