HOW TO
Unleash Your Inner Daredevil
Alto's Odyssey
Discover the endless desert
Some games are about more than high scores. Trading ski slopes for sand dunes, Alto’s Odyssey (the sequel to snowboarding hit Alto’s Adventure) takes you on a sandboarding trek through striking desert vistas. And while you can score big in this game, you’ll find more inner peace in its Zen mode.
With the scoreboard gone, Zen mode allows you to relax and just play. It’s a go-with-the-flow experience, complete with its own tranquil soundtrack. But that doesn’t mean you can’t tear it up on the dunes.
In Zen mode, falling off the slopes doesn’t fail you out of your current run. As a result, you can attempt tricks you might normally shy away from.
Try these tips for risk-free daredevilry:
Rock On
Speed boosts earned after landing a trick let you smash through rocks without worry. And if you're mid trick, you can actually bounce off the tops of rocks as long as you hit them board first. Try it to get extra hops!
Bounce on Balloons
Similar to rocks, balloons allow you to chain multiple jumps together for massive points—with one key difference: You don’t need to land board-first. Go ahead, face plant that next balloon. You won’t get penalized, and you can keep on flipping.
Ride Vines
Although later levels incorporate vines for grinding, coast too long and they’ll snap, sending you plummeting. Use these falls to transition to lower areas, or jump earlier in your grind to ensure you don’t accidentally cut off your optimal path.
