1.8.7 - what's new since 1.8 A long polish-and-fix cycle. No new features, but most of what you'd touch in 1.8 should feel materially better. The headline change: scroll position restore actually works now. Open an article, scroll halfway, back out, come back later - you land on the same paragraph, not the top. Was broken on most modern blogs in 1.8 (anything with images that load as you scroll). Probably the single most annoying thing about 1.8. Things you'll notice immediately: • Reader is cleaner. Removed the sticky title bar and the floating "Listen" button. The chrome at the top has everything you need. • Tap an article in the Library and it morphs into the reader instead of pushing on top. Same iOS-26 matched-transition Apple Books uses. • In immersive mode (chrome hidden), tap article body to bring controls back. Was scroll-up only. • Tap the artwork in Now Playing to flip to the queue. Shows the next 5 items. Tap an item to switch playback to it. • Mini player and Now Playing now open and close in lockstep. They used to land 170ms apart, which read as the close "dragging at the bottom." Both transitions now run on the same spring. • Multi-image articles (Substack, image-heavy blogs) now load all images correctly instead of showing broken "?" placeholders. • Fixed a crash when pausing then resuming over CarPlay wireless. • Some sites that previously parsed the sidebar instead of the article body (some WordPress themes) now extract the actual content.
