The cache that promised stutter-free CarPlay playback has been quietly broken for a while - an encoder bug meant zero articles ever rendered and every wireless play fell back to live TTS. Fixed. Existing users will see the cache populate on next launch. - Voice picker locks while wireless audio files are on - cached audio bakes the voice in, so the picker shows your active voice with a clear path to switch from CarPlay & Bluetooth settings. - Wireless audio toggle now acts as a master switch. Flip it mid-playback and the current article swaps between cached file and live TTS at your exact position - no skip-back-and-restart needed. NOW PLAYING - Tap the mini player and the artwork flies up to hero size. Matched-geometry morph, the same shape Music's player uses. - Drag down to dismiss Now Playing. System-style rubber band, velocity-aware threshold. - iOS 26 Liquid Glass on the chevron, overflow, voice / speed / read chips, toast banners, and reader controls. Same visual register as Settings, Music, and Control Center on iOS 26; iOS 17-18 keeps the existing thin-material chrome. QUEUE + ARCHIVE - Auto-play, skip next, and playlist advance now skip archived articles. The engine matches what the UI shows - you never land on an article you already filed away. - Auto-archive cleans up its Up Next entry. Finishing an article no longer leaves a dangling queue row. - Adding an article to Up Next exits playlist mode. The queued item actually plays next instead of being silently overridden by a stale playlist context from earlier in the session. READER - Faster reader open - tapping Read uses a pre-warmed WebView, no more dark-mode flash, no more 200ms cold-start hitch. Title and byline land immediately; body fills a beat later. - Cleaner toolbar on iPhone - Table of Contents moved into the overflow menu so the chrome doesn't crowd against the back chevron and source name. - "X min left" pill no longer feels crammed against the navigation bar. APPEARANCE - Six new accent colors: Sunset, Sage, Plum, Slate, Crimson, Mocha. Total palette of twelve. - Settings icons stop flashing the previous palette color randomly between renders. LEANER SETTINGS - New Maintenance subscreen tucks "Clean up orphan snapshots" and "Re-upload everything to iCloud" out of the main Settings flow. Skip 15s lands where you asked - no more "I tapped forward and it jumped a minute." The progress bar moves smoothly between words at every speed, including 0.5× and 2×. Speed taps no longer re-speak the last forty seconds of a long sentence. • Smarter voice picker. A Recommended row pins the best system voice for your device and language. The full list groups your exact region first, so en-GB readers see en-GB voices ahead of en-US. • Seamless playback. Playlist context is preserved across taps, queue and Up Next behave predictably, and completed articles auto-archive. Deleting or archiving the article you're currently playing now tears down cleanly - no ghost mini player on a row that's gone. Tapping an article that's still parsing shows a friendly notice instead of cycling through your queue. • Lock-screen accuracy. Play/pause state is now correct everywhere - lock screen, Control Center, CarPlay, widgets. Auto-play transitions no longer flash the wrong icon. • Sleep timer ticks down live. The countdown chip updates as the minutes fall, instead of staying frozen at the time you set it. • Lyrics sync fixes. Tighter follow-along in CarPlay, with a graceful fallback when timing can't be trusted. • Sharper contrast. The "min left" pill on Black theme, the sleep chip, and the voice picker badge all read clearly in every theme and appearance mode. • Quieter battery. Background work tuned down across parsing, route changes, and playback persistence.
