5 GRANDES VANTAGENS DO TRANSIT:

- Our CTO Guillaume put our trip planning algorithm in his Easy-Bake Oven and it came out 10% faster. Delicious work as always, Guillaume! Enjoy our zippier trip planner.
- New profile animation!
- Tap the emoji in the corner of your screen to open your profile settings, and be dazzled by our most recent bedazzlements.
- Spreek jij fluent Dutch? Wij ook niet, obviously.
- We recently got an email from Xander the Amsterdammer pointing out that our Dutch translations were a few tulips short of a full bouquet. Xander graciously came to our rescue, taking our copy in the lower countries to briljantste new heights. We love you Xander!

- In preparation for Transit Worker Appreciation Day this month, we ran banners in the app asking to send a thank you note to your driver — over 35,000 of you responded, and we relayed your love notes to hundreds of our transit agency friends.
- From the bottom of our hearts: thank you for taking the time out of your day to say thanks. It meant so, so much to so many people. You caused a Kleenex shortage in transit agency offices and warehouses across the globe.

Whether you’re training to work, training to become an Olympic athlete, or receiving PR training on how to deal with the fallout after giving a sneaky poke to your curling rock… here at Transit we know that everyone’s got their own routine. Some start early. Some start late. Some end in glory. Others, with a broom in your hand, a tail between your legs, and the Swedish paparazzi chasing you through the hastily-built rinks of Milan.
No matter your schedule, no matter your granite-touching tendencies, you can now make every trip a clean sweep with our all new *custom hours* for alerts:
1. Just tap any transit line
2. Subscribe to service alerts by tapping the bell icon
3. Select “custom hours” and block out your commuting schedule
We’ll make sure you only get notified about issues affecting trips at the times you care about!
No more alerts about the 4AM red eye running behind schedule, the 11PM party bus catching a flat, or the post-match shuttle being rerouted to the IOC disciplinarian’s office — unless those are the trips you take, week after week ;)
More info here: https://go.transit.app/customhours
What else?
When we haven’t been glued to the TV watching ice dancing meltdowns and bobsled jamborees, we’ve been collecting bronze, silver, and gold medals at fixing our own bugs. Is it a rigged system? Maybe. Anything to motivate the devs. They’ve also been busy adding…
- Image support for service alerts (hello maps of moved stops!) — thanks to Metro Transit in Minneapolis for being the first to trot these out. Tell your agency: a better world is possible! One picture is often worth a thousand words of banal service change descriptions
- Quirky bus stop? You can see “pickup only” and “drop-off only” stops for relevant bus lines. Tap any transit line, check the list of stops, and we’ll show you if those destinations are pickup/drop-off only. (If you start a GO trip and select “set destination” afterwards, we’ll also flag any pickup/drop-off only stops.)
- Other small things you won’t notice unless you are the All Knowing One

The electric fire is roarin’, the cosies are on the teapots, and Transit’s 8th floor office has been festooned with so many SAD lamps we’re being regularly mistaken for the Northern Lights.
But while we’ve been blazing away the artificial daylight hours here in subarctic Montreal, the hour for shining the spotlight on our January bébé has not yet arrived.
You’ll have to content yourself with bug fixes this time around!
Keep your eyes on high alert for something that lights up detours, delays, skipped stops, and track changes at the most timely times. We’ll have more to say in the next update ;)

The end of the year is nigh. But the end-of-year celebrations are only gettin’ started! Time to head to the cupboards for your fanciest flutes, and top ‘em off with effervescent apple juice — it’s our last release of 2025, and, well, you know us! We’re making it one to remember.
- Platform codes! Looking for a train, but aren’t sure which platform it’s stopping at? We’ve added support for all-new platform codes (starting with the first few early-bird agencies to support them!)
- Any time you tap on a route, look up a-to-b directions, or start a GO trip, we’ll show you the “platform code” associated with each departure in the ETA card (whenever we have platform code data)
- Agency links! If you’re among the lucky folks riding with one of Transit’s 180+ partner agencies, your agency can now set up a cornucopia of custom links for you to explore in Transit’s settings page. Lost and found? Ticketing info? We’ll now point you to all yer agency’s most important pages
- Lastly: something bodaciously GO-dacious, for over 4M qualifying crowdsourcers. Stay tuned.
The countdown starts now.

Halloween is done. Daylight savings is over. The baseballers have gone home for good. Yet the season of sleigh bells is not yet upon us… which means it’s time to bask in the wonderment of GOvember, a middle month for raking leaves and plowing through the leaderboards on your local buses and trains.
While you’ve been busy turning public transit crowdsourcing into a gladiatorial spectator sport, we’ve been plotting our own suite of entertainments. Like any worthwhile surprise, we’re giftwrapping it in mystery and allusion. (If you’ve put the “GO” in “VERY GOOD” this year? Then it’s statistically probable you’ll enjoy what’s coming down the bus pikes and train tubes later this month ;)
Also… shocker… we fixed some bugs!
Talk soon.

The colours are turning. The air is crisp. The Canadian turkeys are becoming increasingly paranoid.
But don’t worry, gobble gang, because for this year’s Canadian Thanksgiving we’re pardoning all of Montreal’s urban wildfowl and dusting off Nana’s best tofu-rkey recipe instead… even if it always comes out a bit rubbery and burnt, bless her heart.
Now onto the stuffing:
- We’ve made small tweaks to how the app ranks nearby lines on the homescreen
- Now: if a nearby subway station is closed? We’ll consider the closure, and show ETAs for the nearest alternative station (if it’s within a 500m walk)
- Same goes for accessible stations: if you’ve prioritized step-free trips in the settings, we’ll prioritize ETAs for stations marked as “accessible” (if they’re within a 500m walk)
- We’ve also added logic to remove redundant ETAs for loop routes (aka routes that go in a loop-de-doop, and make multiple stops in the same small area, but while travelling in different directions)
- And if you’ve got room for leftovers? No you don’t: we removed a bunch of leftover bugs from this summer’s Transit 6.0 launch. Bug bye!
Spot any new bugs? Let us know before the food coma kicks in.

Our summer blockbuster, Transit 6.0 — at least for blocks with lots of buses — has now made its way to a theatre near you.
Wearing your popcorn bucket on your head, you’ve raced past the ushers, pushed through the theatre exits, pulled your friend by the lapels, and they’ve done the same to you:
DID YOU JUST SEE WHAT I JUST SAW!?
Hopefully by now, your pupils have contracted back to their normal size, the 6.0 changes have settled in, and you’ve been adjusting well to all our latest tweaks! We’ve spent the last week combing through your emails, DMs, comments, and bug sightings, and now our post-6.0 afterparty has kicked off in earnest:
- We’ve improved the contrast of stop locations in Dark Mode to account for bright lines (e.g. white, yellow, and pink ones) so you can more easily distinguish stop locations within the winding route path
- Tweaked ETA cards to more reliably scale with your OS fonts, and made it even more obvious that you can scroll to see all upcoming departures
- Standardized colour handling to put a few renegade shades back in their place
- Fixed a bug where Live Activities would show details from a previously planned GO trip, rather than your current GO trip
- A few other miscellaneous licks of paint
More fixes for sixes are on their merry way. See ya next update!
PS: rate us 5 stars if you know all too well that it’s only after your planned renovations come to an “end” that the real renovating fun can begin :’)

New decade. Same Transit.
Or is it?
No, you’re not hallucinating. Okay maybe you are — but it has absolutely nothing to do with our stunning new redesign!
Say allô-bonjour to Transit 6.0: we’ve kept all the things about Transit that make your heart purr with contentment, then tapped our magic conductor’s wand on all the parts that needed refreshment, like:
* Puffin: our bubblicious new typeface. (If penguins could fly, they’d write their memoirs in Puffin.)
* New feng shui: things now feel more organized, colourful, bigger, bolder, better.
* ETA cards: the information you care about the most (departure times!!!!) now stand out in a BIG way
* Better night vision for your midnight rides: thanks to our all-new, deliciously darker Dark Mode
We’ve gushed about the new changes on our website. Peep it here: transitapp.com/whatsnew/six-o
…but really, the proof is in the Puffin. Try out 6.0, let your eyes adjust, and tell us what you think.

Is it summer? No. But it’s palpably close. Queues have started forming at the ice cream shop next to the office, our SPF 100 sunscreen is back in the tote bag, and we’ve finally bid adieu to the toe warmers we’ve packed in our bike shoes all spring long.
Now that the ides of March (and April… and May…) are thankfully behind us, the seeds of a very busy spring at Transit HQ are now bearing big juicy mangos for you to behold:
- Bike. Transit. Bike. That’s right: the moment you’ve been waiting for… and sending us many polite DMs about… has finally arrived: you can now plan multimodal transit trips that include your personal bike on BOTH SIDES of a transit trip, not just one.
- (If you’re more of a “park and ride” multimodal biker? You can swap double-ended bike trip suggestions for one-way bike trips in the settings.)
- Thanks to our dev Quan for helping us set a speed record on Strava for Lionel-Groulx to Jean-Talon! Just kidding, we would never…
- Bonjour, AutoGO! We’ve been slow-rolling this one, so you may have seen this in the wild… but we’re now able to match you to transit vehicles *as soon as you open the app* mid-bus ride
- What does this mean? It means you can now start a GO trip in a single tap, without having to first plan a trip or manually select a line
- Thanks to AutoGO, we’re now getting a boost in GO trips started (over 1M trips auto-detected so far!) which helps us improve your city’s real-time data
- Big kudos for our data science magicians, Marisa, Quentin, and Ayser, for all their brilliant work on this
- Curious how GO’s making your city’s real-time data better? We got a new bloggity-blog all about it: blog.transit.app/autogo
- Lastly, we just launched our 900th supported city, ooh yeah
- Hello Guadeloupe, Réunion, and a few other hamlets and shires
- Un gros merci to our transit analysts: Brody, Derek, Elijah, Marco, Sara, Tim, plus our recently-returned veteran DJ Nic for bringing Transit to more and more places, faster than ever before
- (We hope you have the breath capacity for the number of candles you’re gonna have to blow out at the next Transit office party!)
- Anything else?
Yes. Something big. Something huge.
We’ll give you half-a-dozen guesses but we’ll only be able to do the big reveal in August…

Whether you’re rowing the Danube, piloting your bicycle down the Carpathian Mountains, or basking in the Black Sea sun this summer, we’ve got you covered.
Hei, Romania!
Dust off your Cartarescu paperbacks and gaze longingly out of your train (and bus) windows as you traipse from Bucharest to Buzau, the Transylvanian capital Cluj, sea-scented Constanta, or picturesque Sinaia where the regal brown bears dart between castles.
Besides teaching our app to speak Romanian, we’ve been gluing patches onto our data pipelines and making other requisite fixes, but mostly throwing the bulk of our brainpower at a late summer project that will set your sixth senses afire.
Whatever do we mean?
Rate us five stars if you love vague hints of great things to come…

- Want to be the Xander for a different language? We’re all ears: info+translations@transit.app
- Who’s peelin’ onions?
- In preparation for Transit Worker Appreciation Day this month, we ran banners in the app asking to send a thank you note to your driver — over 35,000 of you responded, and we relayed your love notes to hundreds of our transit agency friends.
- From the bottom of our hearts: thank you for taking the time out of your day to say thanks. It meant so, so much to so many people. You caused a Kleenex shortage in transit agency offices and warehouses across the globe.
- We gathered a few of our favourite messages here: https://go.transit.app/thanks
Rate us 5 stars if you spiritually high five the bus driver every time
