Dato gives you a local clock, date, multiple world clocks, and upcoming events in the menu bar. When you click Dato in the menu bar, you get a menu with a calendar, calendar events, and world clocks. You also get fullscreen meeting notifications. All of this is highly customizable.
It's a one-time purchase with free upgrades forever. Dato will never be subscription-based. There is a free trial on the app's website.
Dato supports all the locales and languages that macOS supports for the menu bar text, dates, times, and the calendar, but the menus and settings are English-only.

i don't know why through decades macos hasn't ever had some sort of functionality like this. having the actual calendar window open is overwhemingly clunky at best. this is perfect for ease of mind.
About time there is a calendar for the macOS clock

I use a mix of macOS and Linux Gnome. I'm so used to the quick calendar in Gnome and almost daily was disappointed that macOS didn't have the same feature. So glad I can now get a quick reference for days. A

Thank you so much for making this, I always used to click the time menu to try to see if the 5th was a friday, or whatever. This app solves this problemThe only critisism I have is the inability to change the date format in an advanced way. I would love it if you could add an advanced mode which allowed using the unix date command syntax
Developer Response
Thanks for the feedback. Would be great if you could let me know through https://sindresorhus.com/feedback/?product=Dato what your use-case is for needing the ability to set date format in such an advanced way.
Incredible

This is SOOO much better than Fantastical. I’m shocked that it’s not listed on every Essential Mac Apps list online. You need to work on your marketing. I’m so happy with this app.
