Identifying something is rarely the end of the story. This update picks up where the scan leaves off: ask more questions about your results, correct them when they're wrong, and stop losing the ones you didn't save in time. Ask your discoveries questions Every scan result now opens a conversation. Ask about care, safety, behavior, and more– the answers are grounded in your own photo and in what the scan actually found, with suggested questions to get you started. Attach another picture mid-conversation, or mention something the camera couldn't see ("it was growing on a dead log", "it barked twice"), and the identification re-checks itself with your evidence. Tell us a scan is wrong, then add the correct one to your journal Reporting a wrong species now leads somewhere. Pick the right one from the scan's other possible matches and apply the correction on the spot, or go back to a sighting you logged weeks ago and re-identify it there. Nothing gets lost anymore A scan you never got around to saving no longer vanishes when you close the app. It waits at the top of your Field Journal as an unsaved sighting, so you can reopen it, log it, or discard it.

Photos from your camera roll don't always record where they were taken — so now you can tell Fauna yourself. Tap "Add location" on the upload preview screen and search for a city, state, country, or region. The identification then checks what actually lives there, so a species that doesn't belong in that part of the world stops turning up as the answer.

An ID that looks wrong might just be a species you know by another name. Your sightings now show the full classification, from kingdom to species, plus other common names it goes by––so you can tell whether it's the same species after all. A few iPad layout fixes, too.

Some species can't be settled from a single photo. Now you can add up to three shots of the same subject to help with identification. Tap the info button any time for tips on choosing the right angles for each type of species.
