I have been using Revolut for about 1 year now and recently upgraded to the Metal service. The service is exactly as you would expect banking should be in the digital age: convenient, real time and transparent. The annual fee is well worth it when I consider the savings on hidden costs a normal bank charges me on FX, international transfers and overseas ATM withdrawals. Recently I made a larger top up from an overseas bank and I was required by Revolut to provide proof of source of funds before they allowed me to access the balance. I could upload documents in the app and it was all approved within 24 hours. Definitely beats having to visit a physical bank to manage money.

Have seen many reports on the internet about people of misfortune whose Revolut accounts got deactivated/ locked for no apparent reason. Some of them might have some dubious transactions going on which were then locked down. But some might have been bona fide users who were innocent. I just hope I won’t be the next unfortunate person. Other than this phenomenon, I have been very happy using their services and think that their user interface was supreme.
