First I thought Substack looked incredibly promising. I was excited to try it and was ready for a clean, reader-focused experience.Instead, within hours of creating an account, my inbox was already filling up with recommendations, suggested writers, and other emails I never intentionally signed up for. The notification and email strategy feels far too aggressive, as if the platform is trying to maximize engagement at any cost rather than respect its users.It’s a shame, because the core idea seems excellent. But a good product shouldn’t need to bombard new users just to keep them around. For me, the constant stream of emails completely overshadowed what could have been a nice experience.I deleted the app and have no intention of returning. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, this one was overwhelmingly negative. What a pity!

When I scroll an article it can often close it as the app thinks it’s a right swipe. Too sensitive and super irritating to use an otherwise great app.

It’s always so refreshing to open this app. Smart people, morals and good ideas gather here.
