Amazing
Zozoo 🥳
This app so far has been absolutely amazing. I’ve had it for ten days and so far nothing has gone wrong. At first I had trouble finding my level of Arabic, but other than that, oui, oui! I’m learning Arabic word meanings and letters in English such as “3” and “2” and “thu” and “dhu” really fast and easily. I’ve learned the difference between “thu” and “dhu” a bit more better. Though I already knew how to read Arabic, Duolingo has helped me do it even faster. Today, I got 3 days of Super Duolingo free, excluding the 2 week trial, and I have absolutely no idea at all how. Thank you so much! I’m not doing music (since I’m not interested) and math (as I’m already quite good at it and I can’t find my level), but using this app has been an absolute pleasure.
Great App, But More Pay-to-Use
Radiantified
Duolingo is my go-to language learning app because of its simplicity and ease of use and access. The app features short two minute lessons and awards XP to encourage us to do more. It also encourages us to complete more lessons by making us maintain a streak. The words are easy to learn and write. However, over the past few days, Duolingo has been indirectly forcing users to subscribe to its premium subscription, Duolingo Super or Max, which has more features, like unlimited hearts and more practice features. Normal users have five hearts and one mistake costs one heart, and they have implemented a way to earn hearts by either buying them for 500 gems, or practicing to earn hearts. However, now, you can only practice once to get one heart, and only if you have zero hearts. The prices of heart refills have also been increased from 350 to 500 gems and Duolingo used to give us three days of Super once in a blue moon, now it is only one. The Duolingo interface feels more like a chore than a hobby, and the Duolingo staff are reportedly making average users to buy Super or Max subscriptions by making learning harder and thus, this is alienating users. To my point of view, I do recommend using Duolingo because it helps us learn new languages with ease, but you need to be wary of the shifting pay-to-use landscape the app is evolving into.
Our mascot owl, Duo, is trading in his usual diet of mice for bugs this week. Yup, we’re squashing those pesky bugs to make the experience better for all of you.
