ABGuru is an educational study tool for blood gas interpretation. Enter pH and pCO₂ and get a complete didactic acid-base analysis in seconds, automatically adapted to your training level. Designed for medical students, residents, specialist physicians, and critical care nurses, ABGuru helps you deepen your understanding of acid-base balance, oxygenation, and ABG pathophysiology — on the ward, in the library, or before an exam. ABGuru is for education and study only. It is not a medical device and must not be used to make decisions about real patients. WHAT ABGURU CALCULATES • Acid-base disorder type using 23 zones in the pCO₂/Base Excess plane • Calculated Base Excess and HCO₃⁻ • Expected compensation with adequacy assessment • Anion gap and delta ratio • Sodium corrected for glucose • Potassium corrected for pH • Lactate analysis • Alveolar-arterial gradient, when arterial oxygenation data are available • P/F ratio and ARDS severity according to Berlin criteria • PaO₂ corrected for PaCO₂ • PaO₂ expected for age • Arterial oxygen content, CaO₂ • Educational correction for venous samples • Interactive Davenport diagram • pCO₂ and pO₂ unit selection: mmHg or kPa STEP-BY-STEP DIDACTIC REASONING ABGuru includes a visual reasoning flow that shows how the interpretation is built step by step. This helps users understand the logic behind the result, rather than simply reading a final answer. TEACHING CARDS WITH REFERENCES Every parameter includes an info button that opens a teaching card with: • Clear explanations • Reference ranges • Formulas and limitations • Scientific sources and citations References include Siggaard-Andersen, Berend, Schlichtig, Emmett & Narins, Sorbini, the Berlin ARDS Definition, and other standard sources in acid-base and respiratory physiology. PRIVACY ABGuru does not require an account or login. The app does not collect or transmit personal, health, or usage data to remote servers. It does not use analytics, advertising, cloud sync, or third-party tracking. Values entered by the user remain on the device only. For convenience, the app may save the last entered exam locally so it can be restored when the app is reopened. This locally saved exam can be removed using the form reset button. Some preferences are also stored locally, such as disclaimer acceptance, learning level, selected units, settings, and changelog state. IMPORTANT NOTICE ABGuru is an exclusively educational application. It is not a medical device, is not intended for clinical use, and must not be used to diagnose, treat, monitor, or make decisions about real patients. It does not replace clinical judgment, official guidelines, laboratory reference standards, or consultation with qualified healthcare professionals.

What’s new in this version: added sodium correction for hyperglycemia, with a caution note for very high glucose values. Added potassium estimate corrected for pH, with new teaching sheets and bibliographic references for electrolyte corrections. A new didactic reasoning screen is now available: a step-by-step flow chart shows how pH, pCO₂, Base Excess, bicarbonate, expected compensation, anion gap, lactate, and oxygenation are integrated. Added pressure unit selection for pCO₂ and pO₂, in mmHg or kPa. Also improved the Davenport diagram, sample selector, form reset, bibliographic citations, reference accessibility, and overall stability. ABGuru remains an educational tool for learning blood gas interpretation and does not replace clinical judgment.
