FOR LEARNERS WHO ARE DONE WITH BEGINNER STUFF
From Reggaeton to Cervantes: the whole world of Spanish, unlocked
You don't need another lesson on ordering coffee or asking how to go to the train station. You need a Spanish app that opens up your world: get the slang, dive deep into the cultures, plan your travels, and feel like you belong. Unedo gets you there, and it's actually fun.
Unedo is the daily language app for intermediate learners and up. No drills. No cringe AI dialogues. Just word puzzles, cultural stories, and real progress.
"Reinvigorated my excitement for learning Spanish!"
- Katie, real user
UNEDO ISN'T ANOTHER LANGUAGE APP. IT'S THE ONE YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR.
Here's how it works:
Every day, you play short word puzzles in Spanish.
Each one unlocks a cultural Spark: a story about the real stuff people talk about.
Music everyone knows.
TV shows people reference all the time.
Food and places they love.
Slang, habits, traditions.
You're not memorizing lists. You're absorbing the language the way people actually use it.
The pace is intentional. One session a day, no pressure to catch up.
You're building the kind of knowledge that makes Spanish feel familiar.
As one user put it:
"IT'S CONTENT FOR NATIVE SPEAKERS, BUT WITH TRAINING WHEELS"
WHAT'S IN THE APP
- Fun word puzzles that train pattern recognition and contextual vocabulary
- Daily cultural stories from writers across Spain and Latin America
- Audio on every story, recorded by writers: read first, then listen in the original accent
- Flashcards created automatically from everything you discover
- A personal dictionary that grows with you
"My level of fluency has improved as a result of using Unedo"
- Sherry, Unedo user
YOU'LL LOVE UNEDO IF YOU:
- already know the basics and want to go deeper
- are bored with repetitive apps and generic lessons
- care about culture as much as vocabulary
- want to understand Spanish as it's actually spoken
- are preparing for travel, work, or life in a Spanish-speaking country
"THE MOST IMPACTFUL SPANISH LEARNING APP I'VE EVER USED."
START A NEW ROUTINE
One that will quietly make a big difference in your Spanish.
Our reviews are full of people who didn’t think Spanish could feel like this again, and now look forward to a few minutes with it every day.
Unedo is ad-free. No noise, no gimmicks, just the good stuff. Built by a small, independent team and a network of writers around the world who are creating the language app they wish existed when they were learning themselves.

2.3.3: MISSED A DAY?
You can now catch up on yesterday’s puzzles and Sparks, and repair your streak while you’re there. A little breathing room for the days that don’t go to plan.
2.3.3 17 Jul
2.3.2: WHAT’S THAT ACCENT?
NARRATED SPARKS
This one is big, and personal. Maybe the most personal feature we've shipped. Featured Sparks are now narrated by the people who wrote them. Their voice, their accent, their story. This means you'll hear Spanish the way it actually sounds across the regions and countries we cover. The audio player will look a little different when a narrated version is available, and while listening, you'll see the narrator's accent called out so you know exactly what flavor of Spanish you're hearing.
AUDIO MEETS HIGHLIGHTS
A lot of you asked for this one. Tap a Highlight while listening and the audio now pauses automatically. Dig into the word, read the context, take your time. When you're done, audio picks right back up. No more trying to keep track of both at once. Just a smoother, more intentional listening experience. And if you prefer the old behavior, you can turn this off.

2.3.1: POSTCARD FROM PARIS
BOCA HAS YOUR BACK
When you pick the wrong answer in Today's Challenge, Boca now shares a bit more context on the correct one. A cultural insight, a conjugation breakdown, a vocab tip. So every mistake becomes a tiny lesson. This one is in beta, so not fully ready for prime time. But we wanted to get your thoughts so we can make this feature super helpful. Let us know what you think using the feedback tools throughout the app.
A BIT OF FINE-TUNING
A bunch of the Unedo team just met in Paris to dream up what's next. So while all that energy settles, we took the opportunity to tidy up. Smoother Folios, faster Spark loading, sharper feedback from Boca on Today's Challenge. Just making sure everything feels right.
2.3.1 18 Jun
2.3.0: INTRODUCING FAVORITES AND FOLIOS
Until now, all the Sparks you unlocked lived in one long list. Great for scrolling, not so great for finding that Sevilla article from 3 weeks ago. That changes today. You can now save any Spark to your Favorites and organize them into Folios: custom collections you create however you want. By topic, by class, by trip, by vibe. Your call. And you can share them. Send a Folio to a friend, a classmate, a study partner. What used to live only on your profile now goes wherever you want it to go.
FLASHCARD FIX
If you noticed the same Flashcards showing up a little too often lately, it wasn't you. A recent bug was causing certain cards to repeat more than they should. Now fixed.
AND, COMING UP
We're not slowing down. Here's a taste of what's coming in the next few weeks:
- Automatic organizing by theme and location, so your Sparks sort themselves
- Missed a day? Life got in the way? You'll finally be able to catch up with the previous day's Drop
- We're testing authors reading our favorite Sparks, to add more nuance to the audio and train your ear for different Spanish accents
2.3.0 14 Jun
2.2.7: BIG CHANGES START HERE
A NEW EXPERIENCE IS TAKING SHAPE
We're rolling out the first pieces of a bigger redesign, starting with the Today tab. You'll notice teasers on each puzzle card, so you get a sense of the topic before you play. And Spark cards have a fresh new look once you complete a game. These are the early moves in something larger: richer ways to browse our stories, organize them, share them. More on this soon.
SOLITO DEEP DIVE
A lot of you have been challenging us to improve how we unpack all the new vocab in the Solito puzzle. So we went to work. Now, once you complete a game, you can review all 10 words and decide which ones to save to your Flashcards. A new step that will help ensure your vocabulary grows with you.
WHAT'S NEXT
Expect a lot more visible changes in the coming weeks. The heart of Unedo stays the same. But we're making the overall experience richer, more engaging, easier to navigate, use, and share.
2.2.7 26 May
2.2.6: IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS
We've been busy behind the scenes preparing a few things we're excited to start rolling out.
STAY IN THE LOOP
We built a way to post short updates right inside the app, so we can tell you about new features, tips, and the occasional surprise. No more digging through release notes.
SPARKS, REFILLED
We rewrote how your Spark credits work. Free users should already see additional free Sparks credited to their account. We've also added a beautiful counter so you always know how many Sparks you have left. More on this soon.
PASSPORT, FRONT AND CENTER
If you haven't joined Passport yet, you'll notice a brand new tab dedicated to showing you what's inside. Signing up has never been easier.
COMPARTIR IS CARING
This release is the first brick of our referral system. Soon you'll be able to gift friends who might love Unedo with free Sparks, longer trials, and more. Because good things are better shared.
2.2.6 3 May
2.2.5: A LITTLE TIDYING UP
Over the past week, we tackled a few issues that surfaced as we accelerated our update cadence. Things should feel snappier and smoother, and the display bug some of you saw should now be a thing of the past.
SPEAKING OF TAKING CARE OF THINGS
This week is Earth Day. We're marking it with a Spotlight drawn from Indigenous Latin American worldviews and living traditions that frame nature not just as a resource to protect, but as a relationship to understand and honor.
Get your Unedo Passports ready!
2.2.5 18 Apr
2.2.4: SHARE THE SPARKS YOU LOVE
You can now share any Spark with a friend, whether you’re swapping cultural rabbit holes, pulling examples for a class, or you just found your next vacation destination.
We can’t believe we waited this long to make this possible. Glad it’s here now. Share away!
2.2.4 11 Apr
2.2.3: YOUR FLASHCARDS, YOUR RULES
We've given you more control over Flashcards. After tapping Practice, hit "Adjust" to fine-tune your challenge before Boca builds your set:
PICK YOUR LANGUAGE
Start with the Spanish word or the English translation, whatever challenges you more.
ZERO IN ON WHAT'S TRICKY
Practice only the cards you need to review, or go through everything.
Boca learns from you to help surface the Flashcards that need more work.
Your preferences are saved for next time. But adjust them anytime Boca is building a new Flashcards deck.
And get ready for all the new vocab to stick.
2.2.3 17 Mar
2.2.2: WE'RE SEEING STARS
BEST NEW APPS: STILL PINCHING OURSELVES
The App Store selected Unedo for their Best New Apps collection. We've been walking around a little stunned, in the best way.
And yes, we're seeing stars.
SPEAKING OF STARS: RATING UNEDO IS NOW EASIER
We've made it simpler to leave a rating for Unedo, right from inside the app.
App Store ratings are one of the biggest ways to help Unedo reach more Spanish learners. If Unedo has become part of your routine, a quick rating (and a short review, if you have a minute) goes a long way. And might just inspire others to join us on this language and cultural journey.
ALSO IN THIS UPDATE
- Onboarding: small tweaks for a smoother start
- Feedback form: faster to send, easier for us to act on
- The quiet stuff: minor fixes, stability, and performance improvements
Thank you for being part of this.
2.2.2 24 Feb
2.2.1: AHORA SOY MEJOR POR TI
SPOTLIGHT: A BIT MORE CONTEXT
With this update, we’re introducing Spotlight: a collection of articles for topics that can’t be captured in a single Spark. A new format built to examine cultural moments from angles the mainstream coverage tends to miss, optimized for language learners.
The first edition of Spotlight focuses on this year’s Big Game and how Latino communities are reshaping American football.
Spotlight is available to everyone. No subscription needed. No games to complete.
AUDIO PLAYER: WE ARE SO BACK
The last update inadvertently introduced an experimental audio feature before it was fully ready.
We’ve rolled back to our traditional player and will keep fine-tuning the more interactive version after we make it easier to use. This sparked more emails than any update we’ve ever shipped. Some of you loved it, many of you didn’t. Our bad!
We’ve rolled back to our traditional player and will keep fine-tuning the more interactive version after we make it easier to use.
You can now resume your regular listening activities.
2.2.1 4 Feb
2.2: A NEW CHAPTER FOR UNEDO
Today, we’re introducing Passport, Unedo’s subscription plan.
We call it Passport because Unedo is an adventure through language and cultures.
Word puzzles stay free: you can keep playing every day without paying.
And Passport unlocks everything that supports discovery and memory:
• Daily Sparks
• Your personal dictionary
• Practice tools for long-term retention
By upgrading, you unlock the full Unedo experience and support a small, independent team of over 15 people. We’re self-funded, with no investors and no shareholders to answer to. We build for our users, and only our users.
If Passport feels right for you, we’d love to have you as one of our Founding Members. You’ll see a special badge on your profile as a small thank-you.
YOUR #1 REQUESTED FEATURE, NOW LIVE FOR ALL
It’s finally here. Flashcards are available to everyone. As you play and read, all you unlock is saved automatically and brought back over time. No setup, no busywork. Flashcard turn daily discoveries into real progress. This is the first version, and it will keep getting smarter.
Thank you for being here early.
To this new chapter. Juntos.

2.1.3: END OF YEAR LASER-SHARP GLOW UP
This release brings a mix of small refinements across the app, plus a couple of updates we think you’ll really enjoy.
WHAT WAS THAT WORD AGAIN?
We redesigned how the Solito group vocabulary card appears after a puzzle. It now stands apart more clearly from the Spark itself, so you don’t miss it and can easily save the words featured in Solito.
WHAT DID SHE SAY?
You can now jump back 10 seconds in the audio player. Perfect for replaying the parts that were harder to catch. We wish this existed in real life too.
THE Ñ FIX, FOR REAL THIS TIME
We believe the issue with Ñ in Completo is finally resolved. IYKYK.
AND FINALLY
We can’t believe 2025 is coming to an end. The year we launched Unedo. We’re incredibly grateful to the nearly 10,000 of you who made Unedo part of your routine, often daily. And we can’t wait to show you everything we’ve imagined for what comes next.
We’re only getting started.
Happy New Year, full of discoveries and fun.
— Sonia, Olivier and the Unedo Team
2.1.3 29/12/2025
2.1.2: IMPROVING STABILITY FOR EVERYONE
Unedo has been growing faster than we expected, and we are grateful for it. It also meant the app was under more pressure than it was ready for. Buttons would occasionally disappear, the app would freeze from time to time, and some of you would suddenly find yourselves unable to complete your daily activities.
We decided to pause the launch of subscriptions and the addition of new features we were working on, and spend the holidays upgrading our infrastructure and code. Our goal is to make sure everyone gets the experience they can expect.
These upgrades are the focus of this release and the next one. We want Unedo to feel solid and reliable before we open the doors wider. Unedo will remain free until mid January while we prepare to welcome more users and move into the next chapter.
If something still feels off or if you want to share feedback, reach out from within the app. We love hearing from you.
2.1.2 17/12/2025
2.1.1: GETTING READY FOR OUR BIGGEST UPDATE (YET)
This release focuses on stability. We improved flows, responsiveness, and overall reliability. Our goal is simple: Unedo should feel best-in-class, not only for language learners, but for anyone who cares about learning and culture. This update brings us a little closer.
Our next build will be the biggest one we have shipped so far.
It will introduce paid plans, which will help us build a sustainable business as a small, self-funded team.
It will also add a brand new section to the app called Practice. Beta testers have been using it for the past few months and sharing thoughtful feedback that has shaped it in meaningful ways. You will see the results of that collaboration in the next release.
PREPARING FOR AN AMBITIOUS 2026
As we strengthen the foundation, we are also getting ready for several additions that will arrive in the coming months:
• Flashcards, our most requested feature
• New puzzle and Spark formats to enrich your Unedo routine
• Better, more natural voices for Spark audio
And so much more that we cannot wait to share when the time is right.
This release may look quiet on the surface, but it sets us up for everything that comes next. If something feels off or especially great, reach out from within the app. We love hearing from you.
Same if you want to join the beta tester program.
2.1.1 26/11/2025
2.1: TOO MANY HIGHLIGHTS?
Some of you have been collecting Highlights faster than we expected. One user even saved 4,244 of them. Impressive. Now, you can finally manage that growing list directly from Rewind with more control and less tapping:
• Swipe in the list to remove a single highlight
• Or bulk remove when you want a big spring cleaning moment
Keeping your list organized will soon pay off as we prepare to launch Practice. This new section is designed to help you review and remember Sparks you’ve unlocked and Highlights you've saved, using spaced repetition and flashcards to make learning stick. But that’s a story for another day.
This release also includes smaller fixes and refinements that we aren’t going to bore you with. But you should feel the difference.
2.1 13/11/2025
2.0.12: MORE CONTROL INSIDE SPARKS
YOU. CAN. NOW. SLOW. DOWN. AUDIO.
Tap the snail icon in the audio player in Sparks to drop the pace and catch every word. This was one of our most requested feature and we know it will make a few of you happy. (Hi Mom!)
EASIER TO EXIT SPARKS
Some of you mentioned it was tricky to find the X button at the top of Sparks. We added a scroll indicator around it, so it is easier to spot as you move through the story.
AND AS ALWAYS
This release also comes with smaller fixes and refinements that should make Unedo feel smoother and prettier.
2.0.12 18/09/2025
2.0.11: PRACTICE LANDS IN BETA + CLARITY ON LEVELS
We built it: the first version of Practice is now in the app.
Practice is a new section for anyone who loves flashcards, spaced repetition, or simply remembering more of what they learn. It will bring back the words, expressions and cultural insights you have met in Sparks and puzzles, so they stay fresh and ready when you need them.
But there is a catch: only users who enrolled as beta testers can try it for now. Invites have started rolling out by email and inside the app. If you want in, you can also message us directly from within the app. We get a lot of notes every day, so make yours stand out: funny, kind, or just a quick line about why beta access would be helpful to you.
CAN I CHANGE MY LEVEL OF SPANISH IN UNEDO?
We have been hearing this question quite a bit. The truth is, not yet. Unedo is built for learners with an intermediate foundation of Spanish (about 18 to 24 months of steady practice). That will not match everyone perfectly, but it is the stage where most people can dive into puzzles and culture with enough vocabulary to piece together the rest. Instead of splitting the app into levels, we built support directly into the experience with highlights, quick definitions, and hints so the same content stays engaging while flexing to your needs. We are also working on new ways to tune Unedo so more learners can experience it at the right level for their goals. You can check our roadmap and share ideas for how we could best support your learning adventure over there.
ALSO IN THIS RELEASE
Smaller fixes and refinements that should make Unedo feel smoother day to day.
COMING UP: A WAY TO SUPPORT US
Unedo has been fully free up to now because we wanted the chance to work closely with our early community, listen, and shape an app that truly feels useful and inspiring. That chapter has been invaluable. Subscriptions are coming soon to help us keep publishing puzzles and Sparks every day, add more original content, and bring our bigger vision to life while staying independent.
2.0.11 03/09/2025
2.0.10: A new beta program for early access to what’s next
This release sets the stage for something new: our beta tester program. Soon, you will be able to get early access to upcoming features, share feedback, and help shape Unedo before we release updates to everyone.
The first big sneak preview is Practice. Practice will be a new section designed for anyone who loves flashcards, spaced repetition, or simply remembering more of what they learn. It will bring back the words and expressions you have met in Sparks and games, so they stay fresh and ready when you need them.
The program will kick off shortly, with invites rolling out by email and inside the app. If you want to join, you can also message us directly from within the app. We get a lot of notes every day, so make yours stand out: funny, kind, or just a quick line about why beta access would be helpful to you.
Alongside this, you will notice smaller fixes and refinements throughout the app, from performance enhancements to layout polishes, making Unedo feel smoother day to day.
We cannot wait to start testing Practice and other new features with many of you, and to share them with the whole community this fall.
2.0.10 29/08/2025
NEW RELEASE: Working on what’s next
This update is mostly behind the scenes. We are laying the groundwork for two big additions we will be rolling out in the coming weeks.
The first is Practice. A new section for anyone who loves flashcards, spaced repetition, or simply remembering more of what they have learned. It will bring back the words and
expressions you have met in Sparks and games, so they stay fresh and ready when you need them.
The second is subscriptions. A way to support the work it takes to build and publish Unedo every day, while unlocking the full experience for those who want more. It is how we plan to keep growing without losing what makes Unedo special.
We will be looking for beta testers to try these new features before they launch, so keep an eye on the app if you would like to take part.
2.0.9 13/08/2025
Unedo is now open to everyone, with two small updates that go a long way.
For the past few months, Unedo was invite-only. We did that on purpose—to take the time to listen, learn, and shape the experience with real feedback. And honestly, the response from our early community has been incredible. Thoughtful notes. Sharp insights. Real enthusiasm. Thanks to everything we’ve heard from our Founding Members, we’re feeling more confident that we’re building something people genuinely want.
So it’s official: NO MORE WAITLIST
If you’ve been waiting to share the app with a friend, now’s the time. Unedo is now open to all iOS users, everywhere.
ALSO IN THIS RELEASE
Saved Highlights now easy to spot: You can now tell Highlights you’ve already saved as you move through Sparks. This small visual change makes obvious what you’re already learning, helping with long term retention and clarity.
Never miss a puzzle: You’ll now see a red badge on the Unedo app icon when new puzzles or activities are waiting. It disappears once you’re caught up. A simple, quiet cue to keep you in rhythm.
COMING SOON
We’re working in the background on a big September release. It will include a new section designed for anyone who loves flashcards, spaced repetition, or simply remembering what they learn. That’s also when we’ll be introducing subscriptions. It takes a village to build and publish Unedo every day, and your support helps us keep going.
We’ll be back soon with more.
In the meantime, if something feels off or especially great, reach out from within the app. We’d love to hear from you.
2.0.8 05/08/2025
This week’s update is full of the stuff you don’t always notice right away, but feel immediately. More control. Better flow. Fewer things getting in the way of your rhythm.
Audio that listens back
• Spark audio now plays even on muted phones, including older iPhones with a physical mute switch
• You can now mute sound effects, haptics, and even Boca’s encouragement (but… are you sure?) using the settings icon in any game
Highlights that work harder
• Highlights are starting to include images to help visual memory kick in
• You can now remove any highlight from your Rewind list by tapping into it
• Batch-editing from the full list is coming in the next release
Sparks that read more smoothly
• Highlights on Spark pages are now tighter and less overwhelming
• Punctuation marks will no longer end up stranded on their own line
A small fix in Completo
• Some accented letters were causing puzzles to glitch. That should now be resolved
We’ll be back soon with more updates, including more ways to fine-tune your highlights and a few bigger additions we’re pretty excited about. If something feels off or especially great, reach out from the app. We’d love to hear from you.
2.0.7 15/07/2025
NEW RELEASE: Small moves, steady rhythm.
We’ve been hearing from so many of you these past few weeks. Thoughtful notes. Kind reviews. Smart suggestions. It turns out a lot of you had been hoping for something like Unedo to stay sharp, stay curious, and keep your Spanish in motion. Same here. That’s what Unedo was built for.
Oh and, Unedo is all about showing how people actually live: what they celebrate, how they unwind, what they share with friends. Sometimes that includes a drink. So, we’ve updated our App Store rating to PG17. Nothing scandalous. Just culture, honestly told.
WHAT’S NEW
• Spark audio now keeps playing when your screen locks
• Audio player now shows time remaining
• Fixed audio repeating numbers in parentheses… for real this time
• YouTube videos now play full screen
• Cleaned up lingering video playback issues
• Memory Blitz now scores more fairly (full points for first tries, half for second), and the progress bar is clearer too
• Solito’s energy is less punishing. Highlights behave better around punctuation, performance charts are more consistent, and there’s a new footer on Sparks so you can send feedback or invite friends with one tap
COMING SOON
• Mute button for sound and haptics
• Option to remove saved highlights
• Extra hints in Solito (only if you want them)
• Audio speed controls to slow things down
• More expressive and natural Spark voiceovers
• A new section to help you retain what you’ve learned (think flashcards, redesigned the Unedo way)
We’ll be back in a couple weeks with more updates.
And if you’re curious about ways to contribute to Unedo as we grow, reach out from within the app. We’d love to hear from you.
2.0.6 20/06/2025
We launched Unedo just three weeks ago and honestly, you’ve already made it feel like something special. The feedback has been smart, generous, and incredibly helpful. Most of it’s been glowing (thank you), and some of it has pushed us to fix and improve things fast (also thank you).
And we’re seeing so many of you coming back every day for more puzzles, Sparks, and highlights. What a treat for the whole team.
SOME ENHANCEMENTS YOU’LL NOTICE RIGHT AWAY:
- Highlights in Sparks now behave like proper highlighters: transparent and never in the way. This one's for you Tom!
- YouTube videos actually play when you press play (what a concept).
- The audio player stays visible so you can press play anytime, and now works even if your phone is on silent.
- Memory Blitz scrolls into view automatically once it's unlocked.
- We fixed a bug that made Completo puzzles with “Ñ” impossible to complete. We were also bummed.
- The invite counter is now easier to read after each puzzle (use it).
COMING SOON:
- Smarter scoring that feels more fair.
- A mute button for sound and haptics.
- The ability to clean up your saved highlights.
- A smoother way to move forward after finishing a Spark.
- Full-screen video playback (maybe).
Thanks again for being here so early.
Every tap, every note, every puzzle, every invite you send helps us make Unedo better.
And a huge thank-you to everyone on our team making it happen, especially our product and editorial teammates across the globe.
