CAPTAIN LANTUS
When Max was six years old, he had one idea: he wanted children with diabetes to feel like superheroes.
Max was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at eighteen months old. He knows what it is to check, to count, to correct, and to carry on anyway. So he invented a hero who does the same thing and wins. This game is his idea, made real.
THE STORY
Beta Town is a sunny place where everybody has Type 1 Diabetes, and that is what makes it special. At its centre sits the Insulin Cube, a glittering rainbow cube that keeps everyone's blood sugar perfectly balanced. When King Carb and his Carbonites steal it, the whole town falls. Only Max is left. He presses a secret insulin pump to his stomach, spins, and becomes CAPTAIN LANTUS.
YOUR BLOOD SUGAR IS YOUR POWER
Captain Lantus does not have a health bar. He has a blood glucose meter, and it is the heart of the game.
Stay in range and go SUPER CHARGED: faster, stronger, double points. Go too high and you slow down, so use an insulin capsule or sprint hard to burn the sugar off. Go too low and grab a glucose pack. Touch a festival sweet and your sugar spikes.
Out of range is never a failure and never a telling-off. You slow down, you fix it, you carry on. That is the whole idea: managing your blood sugar makes you powerful, not punished.

- Fire blue energy bursts at the Carbonites, and hit harder while you are in range
- Rescue trapped townspeople and free Mayor Bolus
- Dodge boss stomps and shockwaves
- Collect coins, insulin, and glucose packs
- Beat King Carb and the Toffee Titan
