Apple's editors recently described Rooms better than we could:

-"An incredible canvas for creativity, set in a nostalgic 8-bit world. Rooms is tough to categorize: It’s a blank slate for building imaginative scenes, a platform for cozy gaming, and a social space that lets you interact with thousands of other people’s creations. Quirky, compelling, and executed with a delightful retro twist."

It’s true that it’s hard to explain what this app exactly is, but what it’s shown is how many talented and creative people are out there making this app magical more often than not. It’s definitely something you want to experience for yourself to understand what it’s accomplishing. I never leave reviews for apps and once I got into letting my own creative juices just flow for my own room, I had so much fun being able to express myself and this app gives you so many tools to help you accomplish whatever idea comes to mind. If you aren’t comfortable with coding, it will give you plenty of guidance on what functions to call in order to do certain things and I would say even for someone new to it, it’s a great way to practice and learn by doing something fun and engaging. And even if you decide you don’t want to make your own room, you can still look around and experience others that users have made. They all have themes and you can search by which ever category happens to interest you. there’s a lot of gems to stumble upon 👏🏻❤️ definitely love this!

Thank you for the kind words 🧡
we need a timeline editor and better modeling tools
the_last_jedi
this is a fantastic platform for so many different kinds of creations. i’ve seen tetris, rpg games, amvs, fully built worlds to explore, animated skits, everything. BUT- while it’s editing tools are already pretty fantastic, a timeline style animation editor with optional advanced features like curves and key frames is badly needed with the new camrea system especially. i guarantee you that would boost this app’s reach by MILES. appealing and marketing to the animator crowd would drive this app’s reach WAY more than you probably realize (look at procreate dreams or especially toonsquid’s enormous success). i understand that a limited bones rigging system might be a bit too complex, but it would most likely bring in thousands and thousands more users and fill in a niche not currently filled on ipad. we definitely need a more robust voxel builder/modeling tools though, it’s currently way too primitive. blockbench type tools would be ideal, but probably not likely, but even just a slightly more advanced voxel toolset would do. currently it’s literally as bare bones as it could possibly be. either that, or more 3d model formats need to be supported to be imported, but that’s most likely not going to happen. these updates absolutely need to happen soon. rooms 2.0?
LOVE IT! one teeny detail tho

I absolutely love this app! I feel so relaxed when I use it, people are so creative with their rooms and I can’t help but feel I pried when I open it up. It does look a bit like instagram when I opened it up at first and it threw me off, but that isn’t a huge deal. There IS a scrolling aspect but I don’t feel mindless or like my brain is rotting when I look through it because I’m getting a chance to actually experience people’s art, and I often go create something after going on the app. I seriously recommend this. It’s also really fun to make rooms for original characters or rooms inspired by your favorite literature. If you’re an artist, get this app!! One tiny thing that was a little awkward for creating in the room maker is that it’s kind of hard to position the items, since the perspective is weird. Like I’ll be adding a notebook to my room and be positioning it and I think it looks good, then I’ll turn the room around to look at it and it’s hallways across the room?? It’s not that bad but it can make it hard to add stuff. Still totally get it though!!

Totally fair feedback. We continue to look for ways to make this easier!
So impressed with this app!

I am amazed this app is totally free with no ads! It’s very cool and there is no limit to what you can design. Almost anything you can think of is already in the “thing library” but if it’s not you can make it yourself and add it to the library. You can even edit things that already exist to change the color or make them fit where you need. There are room templates you can decorate or you can totally start from scratch with a blank screen if you want.It takes a second to get used to placing the objects but it’s not difficult at all. I’ve been getting used to the game and learning what all I can do by just designing simple rooms with fun decor but seeing what other people have made blows my mind! Like making interactive computers, cooking simulators, even video games. If you are a creative person you NEED this game. If you’re not very creative get it anyway because putting all your favorite things into a room that looks like a claw machine can be fun for anyone!
