The recorder you always have with you. Connect your interface, hit record, capture the idea before it's gone. Launch price promotion until 6th July 2026.
Most recording apps feel like software. Reel feels like hardware.
Reel is the multitrack recorder in your pocket. Ready for any recording scenario - capturing ideas in the rehearsal room, recording a live performance, digitising your vinyl collection, tracking a session on the road, or catching the moment inspiration hits. Connect your interface, hit record, capture it before it's gone.
The disc spins. The transport clicks. Rewind ramps up speed the way tape actually does. Every interaction is physical, immediate, satisfying. Designed so your hands know where everything is and your eyes can stay on your instrument.
THE DISC.
The large central reel is the heart of the app. Drag to scrub through your recording. Flick it and it spins with natural momentum. It stops where tape stops. It moves how tape moves. Nothing else on the App Store feels like this.
THE TRANSPORT.
Record, play, stop, rewind, fast forward. With the same tactile logic as a physical tape machine. Hold rewind and the speed ramps up. Release and it decelerates naturally. Every button does exactly what you expect, every time.
PITCH AND SPEED.
Slow a recording down to transcribe every note. Speed it up for quick review. The disc controls playback speed from 0.25x to 4x. Lock it in and it stays there across play and pause. Your recording, at whatever speed you need it.
CUE POINTS.
Drop a marker at any moment in a recording and jump back to it instantly. Perfect for flagging the take worth keeping, the section worth fixing, or the idea worth building on.
FOUR TRACKS. REAL WORKFLOW.
Record up to 4 tracks simultaneously from a multi-output interface. Overdub additional parts on top. Punch in a fix without redoing the whole take. Set a loop point and record over it. Built-in mic works when you're empty-handed. Enable Studio Vocal Mode for noise reduction and echo cancellation - cleaner recordings even in imperfect spaces.
THE MIXER.
Each track has independent volume and pan controls. Mute or solo any track while you work. Monitor your input in real time while recording so you always know what you're capturing.
METRONOME AND COUNT-IN.
Set your BPM, enable count-in, and Reel gives you a 1-4 bar lead before recording starts. Stay in time from the first note without any click bleed on your recording.
WORKS WITH YOUR GEAR.
Connect any USB class-compliant audio interface or instrument directly to your iPhone and record. Plug in an OP-1 Field and capture all 8 channels across 4 stereo tracks simultaneously. Plug in a Focusrite, Zoom, or MOTU and record straight from your instruments, synths, or mics. No drivers, no setup, no laptop. Reel detects your device and records at its native quality, up to 96kHz and 32-bit.
No interface? No problem. The built-in mic with Studio Vocal Mode handles voice, acoustic instruments, and room recordings with noise reduction and echo cancellation built in.
YOUR FILES. NO LOCK-IN.
Export WAV, AIFF, or M4A to your DAW, AirDrop, or cloud storage. Organize recordings with color-coded tags. Your sessions stay on your device or iCloud. No account required.
This is a real cool and promising app! The ability to multitrack record and layer those recordings all within a sleek UI and convenient labeling system is perfect to get you focused on what matters most: the music and the song. This app truly brings the simple tape recorder workflow into the mobile sphere. There is still room for improvement, but what’s nice is that this app is back by a developer who’s open to feedback and committed to making this the best app it can be. Easy buy for the price looking forward to seeing how it improves in the future.
Fantastic, stress-free recorder
Briaric
This is exactly what I wanted from a modern 4 track app. It’s simple, intuitive, and great for gritty recordings, simple jam capturing, and small snippets of inspiration. I’ve been using it to capture my synthesizer jam seshes and it’s been great for that! My only minor gripe is the inability to overdub recordings without an interface, but I’m sure that’s something that’ll be added later. Minor quibble aside, this is a great start, and very feature-rich. Give it a shot!
Developer Response
Hi, thank you for downloading and supporting Reel! The app should allow you to overdub without an interface. You can find out more and dig deeper into the recording process via the manual accessible via in app > settings > Manual or through the website: reelaudio.app/manualIf you still find it doesn't work, please email us: contact@reelaudio.app and we will happily get it working for you.
An essential music tool

I’ve never reviewed an app before, but this one deserves notice. Super functional, easy to use 4 track recorder that is easy on the eyes and pleasantly tactile. great design, in the spirit of Teenage Engineering. This will be an essential tool in my music making process — great for generating and saving ideas, with pro audio quality. A huge upgrade from Voice Memos, for this purpose.
Best multitrack recording app for Teenage Engineering devices to date

Not too many apps really catch my attention these days. Most developers have already made all of the apps, plug-ins and program we need or could want. But every now and then a talent comes out of the woodwork that cannot be compared or denied. That is the case with Reels.I have not been so impressed with an app that is seemingly so simple and streamlined, but so incredibly deep, and the only thing that I could think of that is similar is AUM.The user interface is absolutely stunning, the experience is clean, and there is nothing else like it out there, especially if you are a teenage engineer user, which I exclusively am.Keep it up Tug
Major UI update.
The full interface now fits on every iPhone and iPad screen without scrolling. Tested across iPhone SE 3rd gen, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone Air, iPhone 14, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 17e, plus iPad mini, iPad Pro 11", iPad Pro 13" and others.
Transport labels are now consistent: Rec, Play, Stop, Rewind, FForward.
If anything looks off on your device, please email support@reelaudio.app.
Thanks for the reports.
