You pay once. No subscription, no ads, no account, no in-app purchases, and no feature waiting behind a second payment. What you install is the complete app, with no cap on how many contacts you keep — and the features you bought will never move behind a new paywall later.
There is no Fonym account and no Fonym server. Your contacts, card photos and notes stay on your device, and reading the text on a card happens there too. Nothing leaves your device on its own — only what you share or back up yourself.
Because none of it waits on a network, the app works the same in a basement or a packed exhibition hall as it does on wifi or cellular.
One more thing we are proud of: the people you exchange cards with never hear from us. No invitations, no follow-up emails. They get your contact details, and that is all.
A PLACE THAT ISN'T YOUR PHONE BOOK
Your contacts list is where your relatives, your closest friend and a plumber you used once all live together. Fonym is a deliberate place for the businesses and services you deal with — kept apart from friends and family, and never mixed into the address book that copies itself to every device you own.
HOW IT WORKS
Store a card six different ways: scan it with the camera, scan a QR code, import a photo, open a vCard file, paste copied text, or type it in yourself. However it arrives, it becomes a contact you can find again — search any field, sort by name, business or most recent, and filter by the tags you added.
Share your own card with a QR code that phones read with their built-in camera app, with no app required on their end. The QR code carries the contact itself rather than a link, so there is nothing to load and nothing to look up online — it works even when neither phone has a connection.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
