iPhone Duo: we know the camera can freeze when you turn or fold the phone. A fix is on its way. One price, paid once: no subscription, no watermark, no ads.
Flipcorder is your retro camcorder for daily video diaries. Film your day 20 seconds at a time, and tonight relive it as one unedited home movie, like an old camcorder tape. One price, paid once: no subscription, no watermark, no ads, nothing locked.
Record Daily Flips
• Experience the unique daily tape: everything you film lands on today’s dated 30-minute cassette, in order, for a true retro camcorder feel.
• Easily record 20-second “flips” with a simple tap, each stopping and saving automatically with a calm countdown.
• You always have control to record longer flips, but the day's tape is always limited to 30 minutes.
One Unedited Home Movie
• Watch your day as a single, unedited home movie, playing back exactly as you filmed it - authentic video the way it used to be.
• Apply classic VHS looks with bleeding color, tracking wobble, and a date stamp, or the crisp, clean look of MiniDV.
• Change a tape’s look at any time: the original footage is never touched, so the choice stays yours.
• Tap the picture to watch a tape full screen, and every flip keeps the local time where it was filmed, so the date stamp still reads right after a trip.
• Hop from flip to flip, or wind the cassette round with your finger to find a moment.
Stickers and the Camcorder Bag
• Earn stickers as you film: first flips, full tapes, days on tape and a few hidden surprises. A new one slaps onto the viewfinder, then hops onto today’s cassette, and its tape keeps it.
• Keep them in your camcorder bag, with your Home Video Club card, this week on tape, your spare tapes and your sticker sheet.
• A kind streak counts the days you film. Spare tapes, earned with a full week of flips, cover the odd day off, and Put it in the bag pauses the count while you’re away.
• Share your bag, your week or a new sticker as a little card, tall or square. Cards never show your footage.
A Theme for Every Day
• Today’s blank cassette offers a theme of the day. Tap Take the theme and it becomes the tape’s label, carried on the end card of your saved movie. Theme of the day can be switched off in Settings.
Save and Share Memories
• Save your whole tape to Photos as one movie with a title card, either with the chosen camcorder look rendered in or as clean 1080p video, ready to share. Never a watermark over your footage. Rather just the flips? Turn off Title and end cards in Settings.
• Turn on Remember where flips were filmed, and Photos can show where a saved tape was filmed. The movie file itself never carries the place.
• Turn on gentle reminders if you like: a quiet morning nudge or an afternoon check-in while today’s tape is blank, and an evening note when it’s ready to play.
• Put today’s tape on your Home Screen as a cassette, with one tap to open the camcorder or play your day’s movie, plus Streak, This week and Next sticker widgets for the Home Screen, and Streak on the Lock Screen and in StandBy too.
Built for iPhone Duo
• Unlock exclusive features for iPhone Duo, where the fold acts as the power switch, a camera lens is on the cover, and the subject sees a live retro preview with a REC light on the outer screen.
• Close your iPhone Duo to instantly save a flip, simplifying your recording process and keeping you focused on the moment.
In Your Language
• Flipcorder speaks English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Japanese, Korean and Traditional Chinese. The camcorder’s own lettering, like REC and PLAY, stays as printed.
Flipcorder is a one-time purchase, with no subscriptions, in-app purchases, ads, watermarks or accounts. There’s no Pro version: everything above is included. Your videos stay on your phone until you save or share them. Anonymous usage stats help make the app better: never your footage or anything you type, and Settings > Share usage stats turns them off.
Open Flipcorder tomorrow morning and make your first home movie memory.
Absolutely love this app. I used to live with a VHS camcorder attached to me, recording everything I could through my oversized and shoulder crushing viewfinder. I love the way this turns the sequential recordings into a video journal, and allows you to relive your days as tapes. I really hope this takes off and gets the support it deserves, because I would like to see new features down the line. Suggestions: even more tape and sticker designs. Box sleeves that replicate the 80s and 90a synth wave magic that was always on loudly strewn across them. The option to rewind the tape when you eject it. Custom effects that were on the 90s camcorders like black and white, sepia, fade to black, etc. Integration with Apple Music. And finally, a completely ad-free, algorithm free social option that allows you to peruse videos like you’re in a Blockbuster and see other people’s home movies. Make it one time payment forever. Better yet, just partner with me and we can really get this thing off the ground. I have 15 years of design and advertising experience, let’s roll.

Thank you, this made my day! You're exactly who I built Flipcorder for. Rewind on eject, more tapes, stickers and sleeves, and the old camcorder effects are all on the list now. Lots more to come!
Fun app!

Viewfinder orientation problem
Dr. B. Jaguar
When using this app, I was confused by the orientation I was recording in. I understand it seems to follow the orientation of the actual sensor but the display in the app will show a square window when recording with the phone in landscape mode. Only problem is that when the phone is in landscape mode, the sensor is in portrait. When turning the phone to portrait mode on the screen, it shows a portrait mode image, but the sensor is in landscape mode. I would greatly appreciate an update with the implementation to change the viewfinder to reflect how the video will be seen, or at least a setting that can be toggled to do so. I am specifically referring to the fact that the viewfinder display is a square image but when I view the recording, it is the aspect ratio of my phone camera sensor. I would like the ability for the recording to be saved in the square aspect ratio. Thank you, otherwise I love using the app!
Developer Response
Thank you, and you're right! With Portrait Orientation Lock on, the viewfinder doesn't turn with the phone, even though the recording does. A fix is coming in an update. Until then, turning the lock off in Control Center makes the viewfinder match what you're filming.Glad you are excited and enjoying the app, that means so much to me!
Flipcorder now speaks 15 more languages.
• New stickers slap onto the viewfinder, and the big ones get a little prize moment.
• Hop from flip to flip, wind the tape with your finger, and see how long each tape is.
• Photos can show where a saved tape was filmed, if you turn it on.
• Save just your footage: Settings > Title and end cards.
• MiniDV tapes get their own title and end cards.
• On iPhone Duo, flick the lens cap off.
• Quicker saves, and a phone call now pauses the tape.
