Imagine a notebook so entirely your own that you can even type in your own handwriting. All the simplicity of paper, unique ways to capture your ideas and clever new ways to find them exactly when you need them. Here is that Notebook.
No account required. No subscription. Your notes stay local and private on your device, or sync through your own iCloud account if you choose. Your data stays yours. Export your notes as a PDF, either a single page or the whole book, and send them to your files, your agents or your mother.
- Open to what matters in the moment: a fresh page, your most recent note, or a note from that restaurant you’re finally visiting again after years. Or jump straight into what you need with a beautiful Home Screen widget.
- Type, draw and write anywhere, just as you would in a real notebook. Turn the pages with a curl or tap, sketch with your fingers, or use Apple Pencil on iPad and iPhone Duo.
- Enjoy a free canvas where text and drawings belong together. Highlight or underline text, and your strokes automatically convert to responsive “Smart Marks” that adapt when you edit words, change line breaks or adjust the layout.
- Make it yours! Turn your handwriting into a working font in just minutes, choose your page colour, ink colour, font size and text colour. Pick lined, grid or dotted paper, and explore a collection of 12 handwritten typefaces from Shaped Fonts.
- Organise up to five different notebooks simultaneously. Each additional notebook requires a very small one-time in-app purchase so we can keep the app subscription-free. You can switch books simply by long pressing on the cover, in the Settings or on iPhone Duo and iPad directly by swiping on the desk view.
- Keep an overview with a table of contents you can sort by page number, time or location...so the notes nearest to you are always easy to find. All Notes are searchable, too.
- Have fun and don't take life too seriously!
Most responsive and unobtrusive note taker by miles

I’ve tested virtually every note taking app there is in trying to find a daily notes app to pair with my iPhone Duo and Apple Pencil, and TypeDraw has the most responsive, lag free pencil input of them all by far. The note page flipping animation and unobtrusive nature are fantastic facilitators of the quiet focus I’ve been seeking from note-taking apps for the better part of a year, back when I was testing them on my iPad.Two requests to make this virtually perfect:-Add a button to hide the UI in its entirety so there’s nothing between us and the page. Would love to jot down notes then leave the page open on one half of the Duo for ongoing reference.-Add a quick switch button - or perhaps a tap-based shortcut - to the eraser and back since the Apple Pencil USBC has no method to switch pencil modes without going through the onscreen palette.

That’s really great to hear! And this is just the beginning—we want to make it the best it can be, and we’ll keep improving it over the coming weeks and months. I really like the idea of a plain mode and have added it to our list.
I already love it!

This is great so far, and I hope to see future updates bring it together. This really strongly recreates the feel of using a real notebook, especially on the Duo. This app has so many loving touches and features that make it feel like a flash back to the skeuomorphic bliss we used to have in the early 2000s. I suggest playing around with the cover of the book, the developers put a fidget toy on it for everyone to enjoy! There are a couple features that would be cool to see added, such as brush stabilisation for Apple Pencil with adjustments (since a tiny bit of brush stabilisation or motion filtering would help significantly with shaky people handwriting!)It’d also be nice to see the ability to create more notebooks, kinda how microsoft’s note thing works. Maybe a bookshelf where you can swap them out? The final thing I’d like is the ability to custom-scroll into the documents with pinch gestures. As someone who is visually impaired, it’s sometimes hard to read text at a size that makes sense to write. Either a zoom slider or a pinch-zoom would be lovely to have! Those suggestions aside, this app is wonderful, and I am glad I bought it! I look forward to seeing it evolve!
Developer Response
Thank you for the valuable feedback – we’ll take it to heart! We’ll definitely consider zooming for a future release, and we know there’s more we can do to improve accessibility. Multiple books and brush stabilisation are great ideas too, noted!
Almost Perfect!

This is one of my favorite apps on the Duo so far! The only thing stopping me from saying this app is perfect is the fact that if I want to hand-write notes (which is the main reason I bought this app) I have to tap on the three dots and select draw every time. There should be a switch in settings to allow people to choose to type or draw by default, so I could just open the app and start writing. If this was a feature I would feel like I could fully replace my physical notebooks with this app!
Pure Delight

Just go download this app! It is so fun and delightful! I find myself opening the app just to play with the elastic band on the cover — like a little fidget toy. My wife saw it and sat there playing with it for like 3 minutes. The fonts are pretty (not all for me), and the notebook just hits the right balance of features mimicking real Moleskine-type notebooks combined writing with a good pen (the ink colors are fantastic). I have yet to create my handwriting as a font, but I hope I can export it and create multiples!
Developer Response
Hey, I’m really happy to hear that! And I totally get what you mean. I’m also addicted to playing with that band :D We need more little things like that in our lives, and I hope that after adding more essential features we can also add some new Easter eggs soon! We have lots planned, so stay tuned!
You asked for it (quite a lot actually), so we delivered! TypeDraw now has its own (Type)Drawer, with room for up to five books to collect your thoughts. Each additional book is a very small one-time purchase so we can keep the app subscription-free. Once you’ve bought it, it’s yours to keep. You can switch books simply by long-pressing on the cover, in Settings or, on iPhone Duo and iPad, directly by swiping in Desk view.
You can now export your notes as a PDF, either a single page or the whole book, and send them to your files, your agents or your mother.
We also added an “Only Draw with Pencil” option to prevent accidental finger marks while drawing, and fixed a few more bugs along the way.
Have fun!
