I would like to praise my new Arabic teacher - Sara Hamed. I have been learning Arabic for a few month now at one school, but only once a week. By the time I have my new lesson I forget what I learned before. I decided to take more classes online to make it more regular. And I was lucky to get in touch with Sara. She has a very straight forward approach and my lessons just fly. I feel the language is getting settled in my mind, and I enjoy it. If you are looking for an Arabic teacher, I would definitely recommend her...
great idea, very invasive execution

The idea of studying online and being in control of your learning is great. I have been with preply for years, before it even went international. But lately it is so extremely commercial, they just try to squeeze the money out of you wherever possible: I have a tutor that I like and I have been studying with him for months, but the app keeps pushing me to try another tutor. Why? Did I ask for this? No! Another thing is with automatically scheduling lessons. My work schedule is very dynamic, I can’t have a set schedule, but the app wants me to spend money regularly, so it keeps pushing me to schedule regular hours again and again and again, which gets really frustrating. Also the thing with the subscription: there’s no reminder that I will be charged, to change the date of the renewal is a whole adventure. Why? If I like learning with my teacher, I will come back and I will keep learning and I will keep paying. There’s no need for this aggressive commercial approach. This just turns people away!I am thankful that I am more or less technology savvy, so I can catch these traps on time, but a lot of people don’t, and you can see clearly from the reviews here that many of your customers suffered for this.Honestly, if not for my teacher, I would leave the platform a long time ago.Shame

Poor experience and below par customer service!

The initial idea is good however the execution is terrible! The platform is very inflexible, they keep forcing you to subscribe and use your classes within a specific period of time. You can pause the subscription but only for a limited period of time. It is terrible for someone who travel frequently such as myself! Classes are not cheap either! You can see quickly that the idea is to make you spend your money quickly. Worst part is you cannot use your classes as you see fit! I was trying to transfer one class to another tutor but the system kept asking me to subscribe. When asked why to the customer service, they were unable neither to understand nor to help. They kept offering me alternatives which did not make any sense like book the lesson with another teacher as trial… why would I do that?!! I wanted to keep learning with the same teacher! Because of this, I now cancelled my subscription to preply and I will not recommend the platform any further! Another thing is you could wonder how they find and select the teachers sometimes as the quality in some instances is quite poor. The teachers don’t have a clear methodology nor previous experience teaching. Anyone can just go and start teaching on preply without any previous experience nor diplomas!

I booked two classes per week through this program, but I didn't have the capacity to study two classes every week. I completed five, and I still had five more to book, but they were canceled because the month was ending. I had already paid a large sum, meaning I'm left with half the money for the classes. I spoke with them, and they reinstated the classes, but they forced me to book the remaining five quickly, otherwise I'd lose them. I was forced to take them on days I didn't want. When I contacted them to cancel the classes and get a refund because I couldn't attend, they refused. I still have half the money left. I don't like their communication style, and I haven't benefited at all from this program.
