This game needs more enemy variations. In the start of the game, you should see different variations of enemies, not just the regular swooping bats and weird ghoul things. Difficulties could also be a way to introduce replayability. You start with the harder variations of enemies in exchange for more XP and rewards. Once you get to the highest variation, you should start enhancing AI, and maybe even abilities. So on maximum-ultra-super-duper-somethinghere hardcore, you could increase the radius of the tree stump enemy, and 2 in every 4 shots will fly over the walls, and you could increase their jump distance. Also, some level variations have to be balanced. If you’re dealing with 4 piranha plant things in a level in an extremely cramped space with lots of walls, it’s just bad level design. On the other hand, you can be in an extremely open space with piranha plants with 0 walls — that is also bad level design. You have to strike a balance. Also, it should be easier to acquire gear, and your upgrades shouldn’t be based on the luck-of-the-draw; you could be working very hard as the required amount of “tokens” increases, only to get a power you just don’t need, or have drawn so many times to the point where it literally doesn’t matter if it’s upgraded or not. You should at least make different rarities of these, but that’s just loot-boxes all over again™
