Saved articles, articles in your history and followed threads now open with a tap (account icon > Saved and history). Explainers no longer close the app on rare audio changes, and the app starts and scrolls more smoothly. Thanks for your reports.

Pollar 4.0 is redesigned throughout. Home is now the day’s edition, morning and evening, and it opens with the Brief: a satellite map, a list of contents and chapters you can play one at a time. A single player covers the Brief and Pollar Sounds, with a mini player, text that follows the audio and controls on the lock screen. Live shows what has changed since your last visit, Threads and the story page have been rebuilt, and For you tells you why each story is there. Also new: Local, with news from the cities you choose, Pollar Chat, an AI assistant for your questions about the news, and a redesigned Markets section. On iPad and iPhone Duo, the edition opens across two pages. The widgets and the Apple Watch app are new as well: on your wrist, the edition, the Brief in your headphones and complications for the watch face. All of it set in a new typeface, Pollar Grotesk.

Music from other apps keeps playing when a film preview scrolls past in the feed. Search: people and places stay above the results, your recent searches appear as you type, and the Search key searches right away.

Pollar Sounds. Our original podcast, about 20 minutes an episode, with subtitles that scroll along with the audio. Members listen at least 6 hours early. Explainers. Short, automatically produced videos on the day's biggest stories: a map, quotes, figures and a timeline in about a minute. Text size now works in the Brief and in threads too. One setting for the whole app. A new account menu: your photo or initial, with a dot for new notifications. You can also become a member without an account and link the purchase to one later.

Brief Story: the day's numbers as a full-screen story, each on a map of the place it concerns. Swipe up to read more, or share a card to your Instagram Story. Pollar films: short films on selected stories, on Home and on the story's page. Home: categories you hide in Settings no longer appear there. Menu: every tab has a single menu with Support Us, and the Brief has its own Share button. Fixes: sharing a card from the story now takes seconds, plus smaller improvements across the app.

Compatibility: Pollar now supports iPhones and iPads running iOS 17.4 and up. Profile: add a display name and a profile photo in Settings. Profile: avatars no longer show a random letter when you sign in with Hide My Email. Fixes: onboarding and reader polish, especially on iOS 17 and 18.

Membership: support Pollar with a monthly plan, in addition to yearly. Feed: hide a single discipline, like tennis, instead of a whole category.

Bug fixes: • Dynamic Island: the compact view now shows only the LIVE badge, never an elapsed-time counter. • Home: tapping the Home tab always returns to the full feed, also from a category or an open article. • Headers with the AI-generated label always fit on a single line.
