PMDA 2.0 is a new app, rebuilt natively for iPhone and iPad. - A magazine-style home, album, artist, label and genre pages, with reviews, biographies, credits and editions up front. - iPad gets its own layouts: a two-column home, album and artist pages side by side, a wider player; it turns with you. - A player in the album page's style. On iPhone, Queue, Lyrics, Explore and Output open full screen from the bottom; on iPad they take over the right-hand pane while the cover stays put. - CarPlay: browse and play your library from the car, with thumbs-up, shuffle and repeat. - Thumbs-up likes everywhere, and sharing with the other listeners on your server. - Faster, steadier, and it follows your phone's light or dark setting.

Playback starts when you press play. PMDA now keeps the next three tracks ready while you listen, so only the first one waits for your library's disks to wake. Staying signed in. The app was losing your session on some launches and asking you to sign in again with "Remember me" still ticked. Fixed. A calmer home. The album of the day, the artist spotlight and the artist page used to lay their text over the artwork; on a sleeve that is itself typographic, the label became unreadable. Covers are square again and the words sit on the page, with real space between sections. Concerts. One row per artist instead of one per city, so a tour no longer fills the whole section. Each row shows the artist and how far away the date is. In the mood for something. Narrow the home to the genres you feel like, and it says them back to you. Share a single track. Long-press it in the tracklist. Cleaner detail pages. The album page said several things twice and offered eight controls where four led to the same menu. Genres and labels now carry the same colours as the web app, so you can tell them apart at a glance. Sixteen languages, properly: a number of screens were still showing English regardless of your language.

Your downloads are now a real offline library: track titles and album info are kept with each download, and the offline screen gains search over everything on your device. Older downloads can fetch their missing info in one tap. The Like button is now a thumbs-up everywhere.
