(사)대한잠수협회는 1979년 1월 31일, 대한민에 스킨스쿠버라는 새로운 레져스포츠를 소개하여 국민들에게 안전한 잠수교육을 위해 최선을 다하는 협회로서 대한민국 잠수인의 영원한 동반자가 되어 드릴 것을 약속합니다.
본 협회는 잠수 및 수상안전에 관한 교육ㆍ연구ㆍ수련 및 안전관리기술의 개발과 보급을 통하여 국민체력을 향상시키고, 건전한 스포츠 풍토를 조성하여 산하단체를 통괄 지도 양성하고, 수중자연보호 활동을 전개하여 국가 발전과 국민문화발전에 이바지함을 목적으로 설립되었습니다.
