Cook: Cooklang recipe app

Plain-text recipe manager

Free · In-App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Keep favourite recipes, manage your collection right in the app, and find any recipe by typing or voice, all in a fresh new look. Clip a recipe from any website or a photo of a cookbook page, cook it step by step with timers, and shop from an aisle-sorted list. Every recipe is a plain-text file you own, so nothing you save can ever be locked in. RECIPES THAT KEEP THEIR STRUCTURE Most apps flatten a recipe into a list and a wall of text. Cook uses Cooklang, an open-source plain-text format that keeps how a recipe really works: - Sections: dough, filling, and frosting stay distinct parts of one recipe - Recipe references: your pizza links to your pizza dough instead of copying it - Notes and metadata: oven temps, timing cues, source, tags. Nothing gets lost - Scaling: by servings, by multiplier, or around a single ingredient GET RECIPES IN WITHOUT RETYPING - Paste a link, or share a page from Safari, and Cook turns it into a clean recipe. Recipe-site imports are free and unlimited. - Photograph a cookbook page or add screenshots and Cook reads the ingredients and steps (Cook Cloud plan). - Save recipes from YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram videos (Cook Cloud plan). - New here? Start with a recipe pack picked for how you eat and cook. COOK FROM YOUR PHONE - Cooking mode: a mise-en-place checklist, then one large-text step at a time. The screen stays awake. - Timers from any step, running in the background, on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. SHOPPING LISTS THAT MATCH HOW YOU SHOP Add any recipe, scaled amounts included, and Cook builds one list. View it by aisle or by recipe, define your own aisles in a text file, check things off, and send the list to whoever is shopping. YOUR WEEK, READY TO COOK Meal plans made in the free Cook Editor on your Mac, Windows, or Linux computer show up on your phone day by day, with one tap to add the whole week to your shopping list. YOUR RECIPES, YOUR FILES Recipes live in a folder as .cook text files. Keep them on this device, in iCloud Drive, or in Cook Cloud, which syncs across iPhone, iPad, and the desktop editor. Works offline. Open them in any text editor, back them up, move them anywhere, forever. FREE APP, OPTIONAL COOK CLOUD The app is free. Cooklang, its parsers, and the desktop Cook Editor are open source. Cook Cloud subscriptions pay for the servers and the AI: - Cook Basic: sync across devices, photo and video imports, meal plans on your phone - Cook Pro: larger import allowances, plus CookBot, the meal-planning AI in the Cook Editor that drafts your week from your own recipes Subscriptions auto-renew until canceled and can be managed in your App Store settings. Favourites Tap the heart on any recipe to keep it. The new Favourites tab shows them as one list or grouped by tag, with its own search. Favourites are saved with your recipes, so they travel with your collection. Manage recipes in the app Create, edit, rename, move and delete recipes, move and delete folders, and import a .cook file from Files. Photos and favourites follow along, and most actions can be undone. Search everything Find recipes across your whole library by title, ingredient or tag, by typing or by voice. Recent searches and recently opened recipes are ready before you type. Swipe actions Swipe a recipe or meal plan to add it to your shopping list, favourite it or delete it, or hold it for more. A fresh look A redesigned recipe list, recipe screen, meal plans and shopping list. Steps sit on cards, and a recipe a step links to opens with a tap. "+" on the recipes tab lets you create a recipe, import from a link, paste text, scan a photo or pick a file. Smarter shopping list When a recipe links to other recipes, choose which of them to add to the list. Fixes Step photos now show on recipes without sections. Menus and .webp/.heic photos sync from iCloud to your other devices. Photos set with image: show again. On iPad, recipes and Settings open in a larger window.
