UrbanKiddie is a free parenting-group App that connects expecting or current moms AND dads within local neighborhoods for advice and camaraderie regarding pregnancy, babies, toddlers & big kids as well as relationships, family life, parenting, work/life balance and community. 

The App allows people to read other users posts and replies. Users can ask questions and share resources in a global chat which connects the whole community a regional chat for region-specific questions or their own personally selected “home neighborhood.” Users can add and connect to additional whether it be other neighborhoods close by, places they frequently visit, their hometown or where the grandparents live. When traveling, parents can essentially plug into the local communities they will be visiting to ask questions or read about community resources, playgrounds and activities that exist in that place (think the weather app, but for social networking amongst parents). 

The App also has a jobs and exchange board within each neighborhood to facilitate the hiring of reliable and personally recommended household help and exchanging goods between families locally.

UrbanKiddie features:
A Global Group where users can interact with the entire UrbanKiddie community, asking questions, discussing issues and sharing resources with other parents.
A Regional Group where users can connect on regional issues, whether it be news and politics relating to family life or traveling locally in the region with babies and kids (day trips, vacation ideas, travel information etc).
Users choose their “home neighborhood” – not necessarily the city they live in (which might be too big) or their building/housing development (too small) but a surrounding area with enough potential parents to make a vibrant online community and pool of potential friends for parents and their children.
In their home neighborhood, users will automatically be added to the following groups with the ability to join or create additional groups:
Main - check out the Main conversation within any of your neighborhoods, use this group to post any questions or share resources with other families. Example topics may include, but are not limited to: hospitals, pediatricians, date nights, real estate, day trip ideas, weekends away, where to vacation with kids, school, dentists and much more!!
Exchange - buy and sell used baby/mom/dad and family gear
Jobs - post for jobs, for example recommending a nanny/housekeeper/babysitter/baby nurse, to try to find one of those, to try to hire a local mom or dad, converse with other parent-entrepreneurs, or looking for a job (recommendations coming from personal experience!)
Birth Groups - based on the information they entered during the registration process, this connects users with other parents in the neighborhood with similarly aged children. You will have a birth group for each child (or pregnancy!) Take advantage of these groups to connect and plan coffee mornings, play dates or meet at story time.
Users can add additional neighborhoods to their home screen to connect with any other neighborhood they would like. Users will only be added to the Main chat for these additional neighborhoods but can add or create any additional groups that they would like to connect.

Direct chat – users can request to directly chat with another user
Chat request – a user receiving a chat request can accept, decline or block
See all users in a particular group by clicking on the group to get to group info
Profile – upload or change your profile pictures, change your home neighborhood, add or delete additional neighborhoods, and edit your contact information
