SLOWLY is hands down one of my all time favorite services. I’ve always loved the idea of having a pen pal as a kid, never had one, but now I can as an adult. I can connect with people all over the world who ultimately and genuinely want to do the same thing, find new friends and people to connect with in a non threatening, safe, friendly and pleasant environment. I’ve never had a bad experience since using this app. I’ve had someone explain to me what helium is in detail out of the blue but that has been the strangest experience. As far as I know there aren’t any creeps lurking and the people on here really are looking to learn about you as an individual and share experiences and stories. It’s also a great therapeutic outlet to be able to open up to someone who could have completely different life experiences and yet still find common ground in those differences and provide support. The ability to choose topics of interest and match with people solely on that, and not on looks or other “vain” parameters is amazing. I especially enjoy the fact that it operates like actual letter writing, simulating letter delivery times. It really helps curb the instant gratification feeling. And the stamp feature is pretty neat as well. I’d recommend this app to anyone truly looking to find me friends from all over the world. SLOWLY is really helping me build a global network of friends.

Whoever created this app thank you genuinely from the bottom of my heart, I’m emotional-I really mean it!! This app is the real deal but that being said, it takes effort to get to know each other. Our culture today is so much about ghosting or flaking out! I have downloaded countless friendship apps and it’s a week of instant chatting never to hear back again or many apps is anxiety inducing because of picture and people wanting to talk to you just because of how you look! Sometimes I get reached out just because of how I look, and nothing else, it’s frustrating :( I have always craved wholesome, deep and genuine friendships and this is the first app where I feel like I’m connecting with real people. The avatars are so cute and people are on this platform because they too crave real friendship which is a win win! I’m really grateful to the creator of this app, it’s so innovative to bring pen pal into a modern app! I have been feeling lonely and depressed during quarantine but tbh my whole life and this app actually gives me hope!! I hope the app continues to stay have a free version! I have met a few incredible people already and I can’t wait to make friends all around the world!

I cannot get a response. No idea why, but every time I send out a letter; it supposedly sends through, a check mark or two come up, and it’s left at that. I’ve had a few scenarios in the first few days where I’d get responses and even short conversations with people over time, and then an update came out, and my messages are either going into a void, or for some reason dozens of people using an app to meet people don’t like responding to friendly intros that are summable to detailed versions of “hello, I’m *name* from *my country*, I like *these things*, and am trying to pursue my dream of moving to Scandinavia. How are you, what do you like to do?”It goes longer of course, but there’s nothing unrespondable about it. Friendly introduction and some interests to maybe get a conversation going if they’ve got any mutual interests or want to say their own unique ones, and we go from there. I have no idea what’s a red flag/bad vibe about that, but dozens of messages from dozens of individuals are simply sitting. And there’s not even a way to delete them so you can have more space to try again; when you hit 100, by the seems of it, you hit 100, and I’m now at around 40, most of which have the double-checked “read” status. I’m not sure if these responses talking about finding best friends posted only a few days ago are encouraging or worrying, because this unfortunately isn’t working out very much, and I’ve had it for almost a month now. 😕Other than that, interface is honestly great and smooth to use.
