Fill in your footprints and timeline faster: Add Activity is now full screen, you pick a place right on the map, and a missed stop can be added back from a GPS point. • Add Activity: Now a full-screen page. For a visit, tap a place on the map, then see its radius and drag to adjust it. Filling a gap? One tap joins it to the activity before or after. • Add Visit Here: For a short stop the app didn't catch, tap a GPS point on your track and choose Add Visit Here. The time is already estimated, so just pick a type. Tap a point inside a visit to see which visit it belongs to and open it. If your track runs before or after a visit you add, the trips around it are filled in too. • Photos on the Road: Photos now go to the visit or trip they were taken during, so the ones you take on the road no longer go missing. Trips and collapsed short visits show a small thumbnail, so you can see where you took pictures. Trip details now show these photos too. • Trip Notes: Notes on your trips now appear right on the timeline. Fares and who you met on a work trip are there without opening each one. • Auto-Pause: You now choose how long GPS waits in one place before pausing: 15, 30, 60 or 120 minutes. Splitting and merging activities keeps your notes, and a place's new name or radius won't get overwritten. Your travel map is more colorful: every country you've visited now has its own color, the Footprint Passport gives a light tap as each flag lands, and a day trip shows up in your timeline the same evening you get home. • A Color for Every Country: On the world map, each country you've visited now has its own color, and neighboring countries never share one. Cities on province pages follow the same rule, so borders are easy to read at a glance. In dark mode, the lightest shades are brighter, so places where you stayed only a day or two still stand out. • World and China Footprint: Once you've lit up a province in China, both World Footprint and China Footprint are available on the Me tab and in the passport, so you can see the world map even before your first trip abroad. • Day Trips Show Up the Same Evening: A day trip now appears as soon as you're back home, instead of after you next head out, and multi-day trips no longer stay "in progress" once you're home. Countries you've visited light up on the map, deeper the longer you stayed, with a flag for each and how much of the world you've explored. In China, each of the 34 provinces has its own badge. Import past footprints right from the Me tab. • Newly Lit: Reach a new country or province and the Me tab celebrates it with a card showing its badge number, the city and the date. • Footprint Passport: Export your footprints as a passport page, free for everyone. It replays your travels on the map in the order you went, then shows your flags, cities and total distance, ready to save or share. Browse every photo from a trip stop by stop, and see your timeline and travel map in fresh new colors. • Important Days: Give any day a name, like "First time in Paris". The name appears under the date, the calendar marks that day with a heart, and a year later it's the first card in your memories. Tap "Mark as Important Day" above your journal for the day, and find them all in Search › Browse › Important Days. • All Trip Photos: Tap "All N" on a trip's photos to see every photo taken during the trip, grouped by each stop and drive from morning to night. Photos taken on the road or without location are included, and your photo settings, like excluding screenshots, still apply. Requires Pro. • New Place Colors: Home is now coral red, and every other place type has a new color that's easier to tell apart, with its own shade in dark mode. You can now change the color of built-in types too: change a category's color and every type in it follows. Changing colors needs Pro, but you can try them first and upgrade when you save. • Full-Screen Search: Search now zooms open from the magnifying glass on the map and closes with a swipe down. Your timeline now turns to the new day on its own after midnight, and workout details read more like Apple Watch: stats chosen for each workout type, plus the city and local time for outdoor workouts. Hikes and walks show elevation gain and loss instead of cadence; runs show cadence, power and stride length. If you paused, Elapsed Time appears next to Workout Time, just like in the Fitness app. • Outdoor Workouts Show the City: The city now appears for outdoor workouts too, taken from the places before and after it, shown as "A → B" when they differ. See which way you're facing on your travel map: the blue dot now has a direction cone, just like Apple Maps. On days without photos, the On This Day widget shows that day's footprints on a map, and a new China Map Alignment setting fixes pins that look offset in China. • Direction Cone: On the map, a cone around your blue dot points the way you're facing. It narrows when the compass is precise and widens when it's less sure, and the map stays north-up. • On This Day Widget: On days without photos, the widget now shows a map with up to three places you went that day, in light and dark mode, instead of a half-empty card. If you picked a cover photo for that visit, the widget uses it, and visit details show it first. • China Map Alignment: When using a VPN, places in China can appear about 500 m off on the map. In Settings, set China Map Alignment to On or Off, whichever lines up. Automatic works as before, and widgets follow the same setting. • Improvements and Fixes: Fixed a crash when going to the previous day on the timeline on some iOS 18 devices, and prevented similar crashes in workout details and memory cards. Turn your photos into a life diary: write a note on any photo in full screen and find it again on your timeline and in search. Tap Places or Cities on a trip to see every stop of your travels, and Timeline Story can now draw you as a woman or a man, dressed for that day's weather. • Notes on Photos: Open a photo full screen and write a note right below it. The note belongs to that visit or that stretch of the journey, so you'll see it on your timeline and find it in search. • Every Place on a Trip: In trip details, tap Places or Cities to see every place you visited, grouped by city in the order you arrived. Tap a place to open it. • Timeline Story: Under Character, choose Female or Male, or keep Any to leave it as before. The main character now dresses for that day's weather. Picking a date uses the same calendar as your timeline, showing each day's activities and city, and days that already have a comic are marked. Style previews now show a full day with four stops. • Improvements and Fixes: Comics that were made successfully but showed as failed in Comic History are back. The history button no longer looks overly bright on iOS 26. Change a place's type once and all your past visits there can follow, and see which way you went with direction arrows along your GPS tracks on the timeline map. Search now opens all your places, cities and notes, and workout details show more. • Batch Change Types: When you change a place's type, its past visits can change with it. Set an address as Home and every visit there becomes Home. Visits you changed by hand stay as they are unless you choose to include them. Change a single visit on your timeline and Retrace offers to update the others at that place. Every batch change can be undone right away. If you haven't set a home yet, Reports suggests one. • Direction Arrows: Arrows along your GPS track on the daily map show which way you went, so the way out and the way back are easy to tell apart. Stops, and the jitter while you stay in one place, get no arrows. Turn them on or off with Direction in the map layers panel. • Browse Everything in Search: Places opens your full list of places, with filters by place type. Cities shows every city you've visited, and Notes are grouped by month, one year at a time. Built-in types can be found in any of the app's ten languages: "temple" finds Place of Worship. • Richer Workout Details: Workout stats now sit in three columns, so a run fits a 3×3 grid. Copy for AI Analysis now adds cadence, stride length, power, ground contact time and vertical oscillation for each split, plus pauses, effort, heart rate recovery, last night's sleep, HRV, resting heart rate, VO2 max and your recent training. Retrace asks once for the extra Health access this needs. • More Accurate Reports: Daily averages no longer count today before it's over, and comparisons with the previous period now cover the same number of days. Month and year totals no longer include a day from the next period, and each daily average shows how many days it covers. Sleep and workouts are no longer counted twice in some cases. • Improvements and Fixes: In widgets, Today's Footprint no longer repeats your last stop while you're on the move and shows how long ago you left instead. Sleep details now export as a long image, and yearly reports show your true total hours. • Rename Built-in Types: Rename built-in types like Home, Work or Sleep to whatever you call them, and the new name appears on your timeline, in reports and in widgets. If you already made a custom type with that name, you can merge it in with one tap and its records move over too. Clear the name to go back to the original. Available with Pro. • Sleep as a Long Image: On a sleep details page, export the whole page as one long image to save or share. Device names show only as "Apple Watch" or "iPhone", so your name stays out of the picture. • More Accurate Yearly Reports: In the year view and the past 12 months, total hours for work, sleep, transport and other types used to come out far too low. They now add up every day's actual time, and daily averages are based on that total. • Photo Captions: Captions you wrote in the Photos app now sit right under the photo in full-screen view. Tap the info button beside a caption to see where it comes from. • Improvements and Fixes: Place types are now translated into Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, and counts use the right singular and plural forms. Five new widgets, plus Lock Screen widgets, keep your footprints timeline in sight all day: where you are right now, how long you've been at work, a travel map of every city and country you've visited, and where you were on this day a year ago. • Five New Home Screen Widgets: Current Place shows where you are, when you arrived and how long you've stayed. Work Timer counts your time at work today and when you'll likely leave, and shows what you've earned so far if you enter your monthly salary. Pro adds three more: Activity Dots marks the days you did an activity, one dot per day; Footprint Map counts your cities and countries on a world map; On This Day takes you back to where you were last year, six months ago or last month. With Pro, the medium Current Place widget also comes with a map. • Lock Screen Widgets: Current Place, Today's Activity and Work Timer now fit on your Lock Screen, so you can check them without unlocking. • Copy for AI Analysis: On a sleep or workout details page, copy the whole page as text and paste it into the AI assistant you use to have it analyzed. Place names and device names are left out. • Day Note: Search now finds your Day Notes and takes you straight to the note. This update makes your footprints timeline and travel map more accurate: trip distances are no longer inflated, and each stop is saved at the place you were actually at. You can also choose which day your week starts. • Accurate Travel Distances: Some trips had their end point set to the stop after the one you actually arrived at, which could make your total distance far too large — a short drive sometimes showed up as thousands of kilometers. Distances now end where you actually arrived, and GPS jitter while you stand still no longer counts as distance.
