An amazing manga app with some cult classics

Don’t listen to the naysayers, you can earn credits to unlock additional chapters and they have titles such as Excel Saga. The translations are well done without being annoyingly localized. Love the app and the harder to find manga titles you can find on here!

It’s cheaper to buy manga from Japan and machine translate it myself. This service creates a middleman who makes profit with no added value. Not to mention how woefully inept ai is at jp to en translation. The technology is simply not advanced enough and may never be due to the nature of the Japanese language and it’s grammar. Ai translation spells a downfall for the English manga publishing industry. This is an industry disruptor and that’s not a good thing. Ai will take over this hobby with less effective translations until there is no quality translations left to read. I fear this will drive the fandom back to doing their own translations for each other to preserve the humanity in the art of translation, sending less money back to the artists in Japan in the long run.

Thank you for your feedback. Our team of professional translators, editors, and letterers uses AI tools only as support—final translation quality is always handled by people. If you notice any specific issues with translations, please share them with us at [support@emaqi.com], and our editorial team will use your feedback to improve future translations. You can also enjoy free chapters every day with our ‘Wait Until Free’ feature, and we’ll keep working to make the experience better for our readers.

Overpriced Garbage

Individual volumes cost $10 each, which is honestly preposterous for a manga reading app. At that point you could buy the physical copies for slightly more or even the ebooks on kindle or something for cheaper. That makes much more financial sense than spending $10 on in-app currency. Heck, you can even read most of the titles in free or dirt cheap subscription apps like Viz Manga, Manga Plus, Shounen Jump, or Azuki. The actual app doesn’t work unless you’re connected to wi-fi, so I had a hard time navigating it when my job’s with-go was spotty. The interface was confusing as well. Like one of the buttons was a randomizer????And the originals are all “translated” by AI in low quality. You can literally MTL the manga yourself and buy the raws for cheaper. What’s the point of spending $10 for a few chapters of AI garbage that looks ugly and makes no sense. Please don’t use this app and seek out better and cheaper alternatives.

With the premium mode now, I can’t even buy the chapters I want to get ahead. I have to subscribe/pay for premium first. It was way easier to pay for the chapters alone. Also the premium feature seems to apply to literally every manga they have. Like after one volume everything else is premium. There might be some things I missed that I haven’t listed but so far it was a good app until the premium feature.
