I have tried many speedometer apps, and it is hard to find one that is both technically excellent and clearly built with immense passion. This is absolutely the most reliable and beautifully designed one available now. The interface is extremely clean, the readings are incredibly accurate, and it has made my daily life much more convenient. It is clear that the developer put a lot of heart and soul into this app. It has become an essential tool for my daily routine. Highly recommended to anyone who needs a professional-grade tracker! Importantly, the developer himself is fantastic and truly cares about user feedback. You can feel the massive effort he put into every detail. You absolutely won't regret downloading this app!

Thank you so much for this incredible review! Reading feedback like this truly means a lot to me. I’ve put a huge amount of passion, time, and attention into building Speedometer: Driving Tracker, so hearing that it has become part of your daily routine is honestly very rewarding.I’m also really grateful for your kind words about the support and overall experience. I’ll continue improving the app and adding even more useful features in future updates. Thanks again for the support!
Could be better
Since 1992
Overall a solid app but needs a few upgrades to make it great. The biggest improvement needed is, when viewing in CarPlay, the interface is small and boring. All you see are basic icons and small numbers. This should absolutely be upgraded to “analog looking” gauges that make your screen look and feel more interactive. As is it encourages you to leave it running in the background in favor of an app that enhances the infotainment value of your screen. I would also like to see a customizable backdrop screen to further this lacking interface. Overall I feel that the features are already in place to make this a GREAT app but the graphics and interface keep the infotainment value low enough to prefer a different app occupies space on my screen. Time will tell if I regret buying the lifetime subscription I purchased. I highly recommend others pre purchase just one month so that you can take it for a “test drive” first.

Thank you for the detailed feedback. The CarPlay app has actually been updated quite a bit since this review. If you haven't tried it recently, please take a look at the new Grid Layout from Settings -> Driving -> CarPlay. Many users find it much more useful and information-dense than the original layout.Regarding the gauges, I completely understand the request. Unfortunately, Apple does not allow custom gauges, backgrounds, or fully custom dashboard-style interfaces in CarPlay. Apps in the CarPlay Driving Task category must follow very strict guidelines and can only use Apple's approved templates. That's why I use icons and template-based layouts - it's the best experience currently possible within Apple’s rules. Also, the app only needs "Location While Using" permission to record trips smoothly, including when recording is started through Shortcuts automation. "Location Always”"permission is only needed for motion-based automatic trip detection to work correctly. The preferred setup is to use Shortcuts-based automation with “Location While Using” permission, which gives a smooth experience without unnecessary battery drain. One thing worth noting is that the entire CarPlay app is completely free, so I'd love for you to give the latest version another try and let me know what you think. I’m continuously improving it and appreciate feedback like yours. If you have any questions, feedback, or run into any issues, please feel free to contact me anytime at support@speedometerproapp.com. I’ll be happy to discuss and help!
The only speedometer app you’ll ever need

I’ve tried several speedometer apps, and this one genuinely stands out. The three display modes — digital, analog, and map — are all clean and easy to read at a glance. The HUD mode is a brilliant touch for nighttime drives.Trip recording is surprisingly detailed. You get speed charts, elevation data, G-force tracking, and even route playback — all in one lightweight 10MB app. The sprint timer (0–100) is a fun bonus for the car enthusiasts. What really impressed me is the privacy-first approach — no data collected, everything stays on your device. The developer is also actively updating the app, which gives me confidence it’ll only get better.Free to start, premium feels worth it. Highly recommended for drivers, cyclists, and anyone who loves tracking their journeys.

Love this app!

Well designed and incredibly user friendly. The app captures your driving data and presents it in a clean, easy-to-review format. Two features really stand out for me. First, iCloud data sharing lets me see how my kids and spouse are driving when I'm not in the car. Second, it builds a history of trips that makes documenting mileage for work reimbursement or taxes painless. My only critique: I'm new to the app, but if it's capturing every trip, that's going to add up to a lot of data stored on my devices and in iCloud over time. A future update should add the ability to purge past trips using a date range to define what gets deleted.Highly recommended overall.
Developer Response
Thanks for the thoughtful review! I'm really glad you’re finding the app useful, especially the iCloud sync for family vehicles and the trip history for mileage tracking.Regarding storage, the app is designed to be quite space-efficient. It already includes options to clean up older GPS route data while keeping the trip summaries, as well as the ability to delete trips you no longer need. A date range-based cleanup option is a great suggestion, though - it would make managing older data much more convenient. I've added it to my roadmap for a future update. Thanks again for the recommendation and for taking the time to share your feedback!
Split a Trip
• Open a trip, tap Split Trip, then tap the route or drag the slider to place a split point. The preview shows exactly which trips you will end up with.
• A trip recorded with gaps can be split at those breaks in one tap.
• A trip you merged earlier can be split back apart at the joins.
• Each new trip keeps its own distance, time and route. Up to 10 pieces at once.
Merging Trips
• Merge up to 10 trips at once, instead of two at a time.
• The sheet now tells you why a selection cannot be merged, and warns you first when the trips started on different days or when some of them are excluded from your stats.
Last Parked
• A vehicle's profile now shows where its last recorded trip ended: the address, the time, and walking directions in Apple Maps or Google Maps. Tap the coordinates to copy them.
• This is not live tracking and the card says so. The app only sees the car while a trip is recording.
Vehicles
• A 12 V charging check. Once there are enough OBD readings, the profile says whether the charging system reached a healthy peak with the engine running.
• Export Vehicle Data, a new Shortcut that hands you a JSON file covering every vehicle, including everything recorded from an OBD II adapter.
• Edits you had typed are no longer reset when you come back from the photo picker.
Friends
• Friends now has its own page in Settings, with your username, sign out and delete account in one place.
• Turning Friends off gives the tab back to Statistics and takes your profile picture out of the toolbars. Nothing is deleted, and you can turn it back on any time.
CarPlay
• The Live Activity has a layout made for the dashboard: one large value, bigger type, and only the stats that fit.
• Fixed a crash when opening a place from Saved Places, and a nearby search that finished late no longer pulls you off the screen you moved on to.
Also in this release
• Max G and hard braking could read absurdly high on a trip with a poor GPS fix. Both now come from the same calculation as the chart on the trip page.
• The compass on the map sits at the top right, clear of the buttons that used to cover it.
• Share cards can drop the app icon and name. Display & Recording > Sharing > App Branding.
• A document left behind by a deleted vehicle now shows under Personal, so an expiry alert always has something to open.
• Fixed crashes on importing a CSV with unusual numbers, and on a vehicle photo that had not finished downloading from iCloud.
We hope you love these updates!
