AmorphousDiskMark measures storage read/write performance in MB/s and IOPS. • Sequential 1 MiB block read/write measurements with Queue Depth=1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, or 1024 • Random sequence 4 KiB block read/write measurements with Queue • Depth=1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, or 1024 • Sequential 1 MiB block read/write measurements • Random sequence 4 KiB block read/write measurements • Read/write MB/s or IOPS scores in the main window • Read/write MB/s and IOPS scores in the tooltip • Measurement data value: random or zero • Measurement size: 16 MiB, 32 MiB, 64 MiB, 128 MiB, 256 MiB, 512 MiB, 1 GiB, 2 GiB, 4 GiB, 8 GiB, 16 GiB, 32 GiB, or 64 GiB • Measurement interval: 0 seconds, ..., 10 minutes • Measurement duration limit: none, 5 seconds, ..., 1 minute. A permission was given by the author of CrystalDiskMark to use an identical or similar user interface in this app.

It works with 13.4 and M1 Pro. Not sure of the accuracy of the results but it did in fact complete all passes in testing @ the 1GiB setting. My first pass was 6897 Read 6291 Write and my fourth was 69 read and 40 write..Not too sure of the algorithm or logical data stacking used to push these pases but Im pleased as one, it's free and developers work hard to do this stuff and 2 I'm sure my SSD certainly can do around 7000 read/write which is top marks for 2021 macbooks.

Just tested a drive in question. One thing this does that the same style program on windows doesn’t require, is you have to specify a read/write folder location. PROTIP: Create a new empty folder. Don’t choose your system library or something.

I used AmorphousDiskMark on my Mac mini M4 Pro to bench compare the Apple internal SSD to a WD_BLACK SN850X SSD in an ACASIS TB501 Pro Thunderbolt 5 enclosure. This app gave me exactly what I needed to prove that this external combo is a winner. Thank you, Katsura!

Hard to use and understand

Texas Independence
I played around with the settings and yet still couldn’t, and can’t, figure out how to make this work better. It always seems to freeze and then updates one reading after a long pause. It also gives different readings compared to Blackmagic for sequential reads and writes.
